The Man Cave

Chris’ dream - his very own man cave!

When Chris and I moved in our new home, we moved into a three bedroom townhouse in the city. With it just being the two of it, having the additional rooms allowed us each to have our own space outside of the bedroom to call ours. While I made my room into my Home Office & Glam Room, he created what we call The Man Cave in the other.

The Man Cave is his space to retreat, chill and hang out with the boys. As you walk into the room, you’ll see a cow hide spread out across the space, a lounge area, entertainment system, bookshelves and a bar cabinet + fridge.

A big feature of the room is “THE MAN CAVE” customised led sign from Radikal Neon mounted on the side wall of the room. This illuminates blue when turned on giving the room a cool vibe. During the day when turned off just appears white.

The black leather look lounge has big black fur cushions and when set up with the arm rest down makes for a comfy set up. You’ve got cup holders for beverages and a little section for snacks. There’s also a storage ottoman for Chris to rest his feet whether he’s gaming or watching the rugby.

This couch is a great fit for the space and folds out to a double bed to which we set up for guests when we have company. We top it with a mattress topper, fitted sheet, duvet, pillows and a comforter.

When it comes to the entertainment system, this is a highlight. The 55” plasma TV is wall mounted above a bar cabinet containing drinking glasses, the limited edition Rugby World Cup Steinlager cans, an array of spirits such as whisky, gin and rum and of course, the Playstation 4 console. Within this there’s a storage cupboard used for bits and pieces. Next to the bar cabinet is a 110L black retro bar fridge filled with beer, wine and mixers.

The room is multi-purpose also serving as a space for Chris to get ready in the morning. A bookshelf with all his little nic nacs is topped with a selection of his parfums.

In his wardrobe, there’s two sides - one has his formal wear and jackets along with his shoes and the other has his daily wear such as polos, jeans an pants hung with boxes that host his activewear, t-shirts, shorts, underwear/socks and other bits and pieces.

We decided against drawers in this area and went with storage boxes instead. These are a great grab and go option while still keeping the space organised and tidy.
