Anakin Solo Respect Thread

"My mother named me after the man who became Darth Vader. The Emperor touched me through her womb. Every night I had nightmares that ended with me in my grandfather's armor. With all due respect, I think I've probably thought a lot more about the dark side than anyone I know."

Anakin Solo is the youngest of the Solo children but arguably the strongest of them all. Named after his grandfather in an attempt for Leia to bury the hatchet on his name, Anakin was the prodigy and the Luke Skywalker" of the new generation of Jedi Knights in the New Jedi Order. He was a hero of nearly every major battle against the Yuuzhan Vong and was able to find a way to sense them not exactly through the Force but through his lambent crystal he used to build his new lightsaber. Anakin unfortunately met his end on Myrkr destroying the Voxyn queen, which would strike a major blow to the Yuuzhan Vong's forces and ability to hunt down and kill other Jedi throughout the war. He was one of the coolest and realest characters introduced and it's unfortunate he died so early on.

Even as a newborn, Anakin was "powerfully strong" in the Force:

Attempting to find an answer, Palpatine journeyed to the Sith tomb world of Korriban, where the spirits of fallen dark lords informed him that he needed to find a Jedi body. They told him where to locate the newborn Anakin Solo, a child powerfully strong in the Force.

Despite the pressure of being named after his grandfather, Anakin rose through the ranks to become one of the greatest Knights in the New Jedi Order:

Luke Skywalker knew that Anakin Solo would be a powerful Jedi:

Luke Skywalker closed his eyes. He knew in his heart that Anakin Solo was meant to be a powerful Jedi. He would serve the light side of the Force well, once he understood completely that Darth Vader's choices had nothing to do with his own.

Anakin was once a "promising student" at the Jedi Praxeum:

In The New Jedi Order era, Luke Skywalker has trained about one hundred Jedi and identified perhaps others to start training. Prominent Force-users such as Mara Jade Skywalker and Corran Horn help Skywalker train and coordinate the efforts of these Jedi, while promising students such as the Solo children and Ganner Rhysode show great promise for the future.

Anakin and his siblings all had a "strong talent" in the Force:

Organa Solo's three children, the twins Jacen and Jaina and her younger son Anakin, all had a strong talent in the Force. The three youths spent much time at the Jedi academy.

Anakin and his siblings are named as some of the notables to come out of Luke’s Jedi Praxeum which saw to the training of around 100 Jedi at the time of the Yuuzhan Vong invasion:

Even after the Emperor’s defeat, Luke Skywalker’s journey—and the story of the New Jedi Order—was just beginning. Seven years after the Battle of Endor, Luke founded the Jedi Praxeum on Yavin IV in an effort to rebuild the ranks of the Jedi. The Praxeum was, at one time or another, home to many notables such as Kyp Durron, Corran Horn, Mara Jade, and the Solo children Jacen, Jaina, and Anakin.

Anakin and his siblings are all called "promising students" and due to the Yuuzhan Vong invasion of the galaxy, passed tests that would have daunted even Jedi Knights of the Old Republic:

Before these promising students were truly Jedi Knights, however, their training was disrupted by the devastating invasion of the alien Yuuzhan Vong. When they helped the New Republic’s fighting retreat, Jaina’s and Jacen’s younger brother, Anakin Solo, joined them. The young heroes proved their courage and resolve, passing tests that would have daunted even the Jedi Knights of the Old Republic. Just as Luke had faced his father, the new generation of students had to face the Yuuzhan Vong before they could truly become Jedi.

Kyp Durron’s Dozen-and-Two Avengers would have been “all but unstoppable” and could become the "greatest squadron in the galaxy", according to Kyp, with Anakin and his siblings flying with them:

After seeing Anakin’s, Jacen’s, and particularly Jaina Solo’s flight times on Lando Calrissian’s asteroid course at Dubrillion, Kyp tried to recruit the three young Jedi to his squadron. The “Dozen-and-Five Avengers” would have been all but unstoppable, but the Solos ultimately declined.

Source: The New Jedi Order Sourcebook

If the three Solos joined the Avengers—the Dozen-and-Five, he supposed—the squadron would soon be thought of in elite terms, and their missions would become more important, more dangerous, and more profitable in terms of the gain to the cause of law and the New Republic. The Dozen-and-Five—a dozen regulars and five Jedi—could well become the greatest squadron in the galaxy.

Mara Jade Skywalker states that if Anakin had the strength to resist the dark side, he would become the strongest Jedi of his generation:

She'd seen Luke's memories, his deepest regrets and his most secret griefs. She knew how closely the dark had pursued him.

As it would chase Anakin, who was raised by an exsmuggler who loved to bend rules, a loving but often absent mother, her talented aide, and a protocol droid—and at the Jedi academy, in the shadow of two siblings. If Anakin didn't fall to the dark side, then having resisted temptation could leave him even stronger—maybe the most powerful Jedi of his generation.

Anakin was seen by some as the heir apparent to become the next head of the Jedi Order, and had an almost unconscious connection to the Force:

Youngest of the Solo children, Anakin Solo was—in the eyes of some—Luke Skywalker's heir apparent to become the next head of the New Jedi Order. Anakin's birth came in the comic book series Dark Empire II, and in the years since he emerged as a confident young man with a deep, almost unconscious connection to the Force.

During the Yuuzhan Vong war, there were rumors going around the Jedi Order that Anakin was the next Luke Skywalker:

"You may not know it, but all of the younger Jedi and a lot of the older ones look up to you. The buzz is you're the next Luke Skywalker."

Source: The New Jedi Order - Edge of Victory II: Rebirth

In fact, the story group had actually planned to make Anakin the hero of the Yuuzhan Vong war and leader of the Jedi, intending it to be a nice contrast to Anakin Skywalker rising and falling two generations earlier. This idea was nixed though to prevent any confusion between the two characters, as the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy was coming out as the New Jedi Order books were being written:

Anakin was supposed to be the series' hero and Luke's successor as leader of the Jedi. That would have been a nice counterpoint to Anakin Skywalker's rise and fall two generations before, but the plan was rejected. Among other things, Lucasfilm worried that it would be confusing to have the adventures of two different Anakin's unfold at the same time. The result: Jacen and Anakin essentially switched roles.

Anakin was the most powerful Jedi in his Jedi Academy group, which included Zekk, Lowbacca, Ulaha Kore, Tenel Ka, Raynar Thul, Tesar Sebatyne, Bela and Krasov Hara, Tahiri Veila, and even his older sister, Jaina:

Telekinesis

Telekinesis is a common Force ability that affords the user the ability to alter and distort the environment and reality around them.

Anakin lifts huge pieces of rubble to clear the way for Chewie to return to the Falcon:

Anakin studied the pile and the Wookie's progress. He heard the Falcon's engines humming as the ship hovered over the wall behind him, and for a moment, he thought of instructing his father to vaporize that rubble pile with the laser cannons, as Chewie was trying to do with his bowcaster.

He shook the improbable plan away and utilized a different power source, an inner source, instead, reaching out mentally to the rubble, using the Force to lift it away, huge piece by huge piece.

Anakin was able to pull himself and Chewbacca along with the Force despite winds raging around them strong enough to make Anakin's scream almost completely unheard:

Anakin used the Force to unload Mara's ship and set up their supplies and camp, which was half a kilometer away and in a canyon:

Anakin Solo looked around the Dantooine camp site and slowly nodded. He stood there with his back to the dying sun, watching his shadow stretch out before him. He planted his hands firmly on his hips and felt pleased with his effort. He'd hauled all their equipment up from the Jade Sabre while Mara rested after bringing the ship down in a narrow mountain canyon.

[...]

He'd set up their tents, orienting Mara's larger one on a north-south axis that would make sure that the dawning sun would warm it, as would the setting sun. His own smaller tent he set up across the clearing from hers.

[...]

He took one last look at the campsite and frowned. Back beyond his tent he'd stacked the various equipment crates and cases. He'd lined them all up straight, but one had slipped out of alignment. Anakin reached out with the Force and nudged it back into place, then smiled.

[...]

Anakin's mouth gaped open. "Um, I guess so. I mean, the ship is half a kilometer back in that canyon, and hauling the stuff up here—"

"Would have been hard work." Mara's steady gaze bored into him.

Anakin feels the Force flowing through him like never before on Dantooine and throws a 500 kilogram stone at a Yuuzhan Vong warrior with only a fraction of the power he was feeling, crushing the warrior underneath:

He took a deep breath, opened himself to the Force, and felt it flood through him in a way it never had before. It was water to a being dying of thirst; it was sunshine after days of rain; it was warmth after bitter cold. It was all that and more.

Anakin touched the stone behind which he crouched, and nudged it with a fraction of the Force flowing through him. The five-hundred-kilogram stone ripped itself free of the ground and hurled itself at the Yuuzhan Vong. Dirt flew off it in clumps as it spun through the air. It hit the ground again, five meters from its targets, then bounced up and caught the staff wielder in his flank. A crunching, crackling sound came from beneath the stone, then the Yuuzhan Vong's arms and legs beat out a furious but slackening death tattoo.

With a flick of his hand, Anakin sends a Yuuzhan Vong foot soldier flying:

Anakin dispatched them with quick thrusts to the backs of their necks, then flicked his left hand in Jacen's direction.

Anakin uses the Force to hold a person to their chair so as to stop them from jumping out during turbulence. He does this so easily, the man doesn't even notice the Force is acting on him:

Another jolt shook the ship, and Chalco came half up out of the chair. Luke gathered the Force to settle him back down, but discovered Anakin had already managed it. And he did it so gently that I doubt Chalco knows he's been helped.

Anakin used the Force to lift and ignite Daeshara'cor's lightsaber from the floor to prevent a Yuuzhan Vong warrior from killing her:

The Yuuzhan Vong advanced almost casually. He spun his amphistaff as he came. He reached Daeshara'cor's feet and she moaned. He flicked a glance in her direction and slashed his amphistaff at her throat.

In a heartbeat Anakin realized that a true Jedi wasn't concerned with what he could do to the enemy, but what evil he could prevent the enemy from inflicting. Using the Force, he brought Daeshara'cor's lightsaber up enough that it deflected the amphistaff strike. The Yuuzhan Vong weapon buried itself in the balustrade, splitting tile with a thunder crack.

Anakin muses that he can collapse a walkway under a Yuuzhan Vong warrior, or tear the tiles up and use them to pelt him to death:

Anakin rose to his feet, fury racing through him. He summoned the Force to himself, feeling it surge. He couldn't feel the Yuuzhan Vong through it, but he could easily use it to collapse the walkway beneath his enemy or shatter tiles into a jagged hail that would flense the Yuuzhan Vong alive.

Anakin uses the Force to slow Tahiri Veila's fall down a turbolift shaft and at the same time sends grenades back up the shaft and out the door they were dropped from:

They fell in a short acrobatic dance, Anakin using the Force to slow Tahiri's fall and she slowing his as they spun around a common fulcrum somewhere between them, like two children clasping hands and leaning back, turning around on their feet. If either let go, the other would go whirling off, out of control.

An old game, one they had invented long ago.

He noticed something was falling with them—a pair of glop grenades. He sent them humming back up the shaft and out of the hole he had cut.

The two young Jedi touched down, feather light, on top of the turbolift.

After cutting the supports for the same turbolift, Anakin would hold it in place with the Force easily enough so that Tahiri didn't even notice:

As bolts rained down and Tahiri deflected them, Anakin cut the fail-safe magnetic bolts that had locked the turbolift in place. He flicked off the lightsaber.

"Cut your lightsaber, now!"

"But—"

"Quick!"

She did, flattening against the lift walls as blasterfire poured through the hole above them. Another grenade plinked against the lift floor.

"There. Throw that back at them," Anakin said.

The grenade whizzed back up the hole. "Why didn't you do it?" Tahiri asked.

"Because I'm holding the lift car up."

After falling from the treetops and having his makeshift speeder hit tree branches on the way down, Anakin uses the Force to flip it back over:

He turned the lift control down two-thirds and dropped through what felt like a small in the treetops. A branch caught under one corner of the speeder and flipped it over, and with no gyro to correct, Anakin found himself hurling toward the ground. Desperately, he wrenched at the craft with the Force, flipping it back over with a very raw, unsubtle use of strength, exactly the kind of thing his brother was always berating him for.

Anakin throws a tree at a Yuuzhan Vong warrior after sensing him through the Force in a heightened state. The tree was described as "half a metric ton":

But for the moment he wasn't doing much thinking. He knew before he should have that the first Yuuzhan Vong he came across on foot was there. The warrior sprang from behind a tree, long, snakelike amphistaff held in a guard position. He was missing two fingers at the knuckle, and his ear had been cut into fringe. He wore the usual vonduun crab armor and an expression of gratification.

Anakin snapped a heavy tree bough, already rotten and fatigued, and yanked it with more than the force of gravity down upon the warrior. The Yuuzhan Vong was quick and nearly dodged, but nearly wasn't enough as half a metric ton of tree crushed him into the ground.

The fellow holding Anakin's lightsaber made a clumsy jab at the other judicial, who replied with an equally inept circular parry. Anakin took the opportunity to use the Force to wrench his weapon from the officer's hands—it looked as if the parry had disarmed him. The lightsaber flew high in the air, sending everyone in its possible trajectory scurrying away. Anakin reaches out and grabs the escape pod he's in as it approaches the moon above Myrkr, slowing it down to a speed that would allow it to survive the crash and pinned to the floor:

According to calculations, at least, they were now only a thousand meters above the surface of the worldship. Anakin caught their vessel with the invisible hand of the Force, cushioning their descent just enough so that the deceleration kept them pinned to the floor. The war droids had calculated that a deceleration of approximately one and a half standard gravities would not be overly noticeable, yet the resulting landing would be 99 percent survivable.

Anakin remained silent through the descent, wishing that he could see the surface, or feel the nonexistent atmosphere buffeting them, or anything. After a few more seconds, he decided that they had to be almost down and began to slow their descent still further—and then the bone-jarring shock of impact slammed everyone to the floor. They went weightless as the capsule bounced, then came down on their side and rolled more times than Anakin could count before coming to a rest in a jumbled tangle.

Anakin plucks Jacen Solo off the floor with the Force to save him from blorash jelly and drops him down in a near by alley:

All five were large men with swarthy faces and blank expressions, men so similar they could have been clones. Four reached for their belts. The fifth tossed a thumb-sized capsule at Jacen's feet, and a thin coat of greenish gel spread across the street.

"Blorash jelly!" Anakin burned a blaster hole through the jelly thrower's throat, then used the Force to pluck his brother off the ground. "Watch the crowd!"

A dozen lightsabers came to life and formed a dancing cage of light around the rear half of the strike team. Anakin put Jacen down in the alley mouth.

Telepathy/Mind Trick

Telepathy is the power to sense, communicate and manipulate the thoughts of others.

Anakin telepathically called out to Jaina and Jacen to initiate the Battle-meld:

Hear me, came the youngest Solo's telepathic call to his siblings. Join with me.

"Anakin?" came Jacen's conventional reply. Jaina didn't reply, and Anakin sensed that she had already accepted his call.

It happened in a matter of seconds, the three young Solos finding communion, a telepathic joining and bond.

After blindly jumping to lightspeed after veering off from an asteroid belt, Anakin sent a call out through the Force to his family and was heard by Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa:

Anakin leaned back in his seat and closed his eyes. He sent his thoughts out, seeking some connection with Jaina and Jacen, trying to defeat the thousands of kilometers between them, to feel them, to know that they were still alive and okay.

[...]

Leia grabbed that hand suddenly, lifting it from the controls before Han could lock anything in. He looked over at her, at the vacant expression on her still-beautiful face.

"What?" he asked.

"I hear him," she replied, and as she finished, as the truth of her own words came clear to her, her lips curled up into an inevitable smile.

[...]

Luke stood calmly and stared long and hard, becoming one with the galaxy about him, feeling its rhythms, its timelessness, its seeming indifference to the events of transient mortal beings.

And in that joining, Luke heard a call, and that call, he knew, came from his nephew, from Anakin, alive and alone and reaching out.

Anakin places an image in Tuber's mind of a new home to where he should move:

Anakin knew what he had to do. He concentrated and gathered the Force to himself, then projected into Tuber's mind the image of a mountain valley with long grasses and vincha plants by the dozens. It would be a place of easy living, a paradise for the Dantari. And, even though Anakin thought he was constructing this place in his mind—creating an illusion to fool Tuber—part of him knew the place was very real, and that he was seeing it as it appeared right that moment.

Anakin took quick stock of the sun's position in the image, the length of shadows, the position of Dantooine's larger moon, then pointed off to the northwest. "Go, there, in that direction. That will be your new home. Follow the coast and you will find it."

Force Augmentation

Force Augmentation is a Force technique where a Force user increases his physical abilities with the aid of the Force, making their aim more true or enhancing certain physical moves.

Anakin uses his training the shunt his pain aside and make sure he could stand after being stabbed by an amphistaff spear:

Anakin gathered the Force to him and charged, somersaulting into the air as he had a few moments before.

Zekk's opponents broke off, stepping back to hurl their amphistaffs like spears. Anakin batted one aside—then felt a hot pain in his abdomen when the second pierced his jumpsuit's armored lining.

As he finished his tumble, the shaft swung away, the head pivoting inside his abdomen. He heard himself scream, then he was coming down, landing on his feet and hammering the butt into the ground. Cold anguish filled his belly. His knees tried to buckle, but he would not let them—could not let them.

"Anakin!"

Guided by her screaming voice, Anakin flung a handful of arsensalts in Jaina's direction, used the Force to carry them to the jelly.

Then he grabbed the amphistaff and jerked it from his body.

The agony was crushing.

Anakin shunted it aside, used his Jedi training to prevent his suffering from crippling him. He was injured, but not mortally so.

Farsight

Force Visions were rare, uncontrollable aspects of the Force that allowed a person to see potential future events.

While in a dream, Anakin had a vision of an older Tahiri Veila after the Yuuzhan Vong shapers worked on her, implanting her with Vong memories and trying to make her a Vong Jedi:

Soft laughter began, familiar yet strange; the pitch and timbre were wrong, but the cadence was as known to him as his father's speech. A woman's laughter, throaty and sardonic. It made the hair on his neck prickle up.

He turned and saw her.

Her hair was gold, the gold of a vein in a sunset on Coruscant or of the sudden spark from an inferno. One of her eyes was jade and the other obsidian. Her lips were fringed by a hundred incisions, and a white scar ran from the top of her forehead to her chin. Armor of a black-and-gray-branded chitinous substance fit close to her body, a very adult, very human body, though the armor was plated and jointed like an insect's. Knobs and spurs stuck out from her shoulders and elbows.

She smiled at him through those split lips and held up something baton-shaped, which flexed in her grip like a sluggish pupa. Sudden light blazed from one end of it and resolved into a blazing blue blade. Dark-side energy crackled around her, calling to him, and he felt a sudden terrible attraction to her, every part of him yearning for her in a way he had never even begun to feel before.

She grinned more widely and laughed again, and with sudden understanding Anakin realized that she wasn't looking at him at all, but at someone else in the vision, someone Anakin couldn't see.

"The last of your kind," the woman said, her voice made whispery by what had been done to her mouth. "The last of my kind." And she raised the blade, and Anakin recognized her.

"Tahiri!" he shrieked. She paused, as if she might have heard something very far away. Then she came forward, sweeping the weapon down, and Anakin choked on the look in her eye, the mixture of glee and despair, joy and sickness.

He awoke still choking.

Beast Control/Animal Friendship

Beast Control, Beast Trick, or Animal Friendship is an ability that allows Force users to control beasts and animals.

Anakin uses the Force to manipulate piranha-beetles into attacking his Yuuzhan Vong captors:

His legs threatened to buckle again. The Yuuzhan Vong was advancing, weapon trained on him. All around him, Anakin could hear more enemies rushing toward him.

Oddly enough, he still didn't feel frightened or angry. He didn't feel much of anything, except the Force.

And a familiar presence, something not too far away. Not one presence, really, but one that was legion.

"Two can play that game," Anakin whispered.

[...]

"Will you fight me, Sinan Mat? Just you and me?"

"That is my desire. It cannot be. I am to bring you living to the shapers."

"I'm sorry to hear that. And . . . well, I'd feel worse about this if you hadn't shot me in the back, but . . . forgive me."

Mat frowned and touched his ear. "The tizowyrm doesn't know that word, forgive. What—" Then his eyes widened. The forest was screaming a song of death.

The piranha-beetles fell upon the Yuuzhan Vong in a cloud. Sinan Mat dropped his weapon and clawed at his face as it disintegrated beneath the fierce mandibles. The piranha-beetles didn't spare the other Yuuzhan Vong, either, and a chorus of pain and rage rose counterpoint to the strident song of the insects.

Anakin picked up his staff and hobbled away, knowing his legs wouldn't carry him much farther. He needed to find a place to hide.

Ten minutes later, he leaned heavily against a tree. In the distance the ravenous piranha-beetles had finished their task, and now, finally, Anakin felt his control of the Force slipping.

Tutaminis

Absorption, or Tutaminis, or Negate/Absorb/Dissipate Energy, is a Force ability enabling one to absorb various forms of energy and channel it for personal use.

After using phosphorous flares to light fires to burn Yuuzhan Vong capture nets that were holding hundreds of trees together and preventing Anakin and Vua Rapuung from getting any closer to the Vong shaper huts, Anakin uses the Force to leach the fire's heat from around himself and Rapuung for an unspecified amount of time. He performed this feat after already inhaling fumes and having his breath "felt like broken shards in his lungs" and after he used the Force to create a tube from his position on the ground to one higher than the smoke in the air. This effect allowed him to breathe cleaner air for a second but caused the underbrush near them to explode:

"Then perhaps the gods have spoken after all," Rapuung said. He coughed violently on the smoke, which was becoming so thick that Anakin was seeing spots in front of his eyes. He remembered most people who died in a fire were dead before the flames ever reached them.

"Keep low," he said. "The smoke rises."

"Low. Crawling like a tso'asu."

"If you want to live, yes."

"I do not fear death," Rapuung choked out. "But my revenge will not be thwarted. I . . ." He convulsed in another series of racking coughs, fell, climbed back to all fours, and collapsed again.

"Get up!" Anakin exhorted him.

Rapuung quivered but did not move.

Through the smoke, the yellow teeth of the fire appeared, chewing toward them.

Everything went pale gold as Anakin dropped to his knees next to Vua Rapuung. His breath felt like broken shards in his lungs, and his head rang like an alarm.

He lay flat, trying to find sweeter, cooler air, but if it was there, it was traveling in disguise. If he was going to find something he could breath, it would be somewhere above him. Sure, it would be smoky up there, too, but it was worth a shot.

Anakin reached up and pulled, creating a tube that sucked higher air straight down on him and the Yuuzhan Vong. His breathing eased immediately.

The fire liked it, too. The underbrush exploded like a bomb. Anakin felt the heat briefly, heat he knew would blacken and crack his flesh in seconds. He had not tried to alter energy before, but Corran Horn could do it. Their lives depended on his success. Anakin opened himself again to the Force, focused his efforts, and leached the fire's heat from a radius around them both.

How long he kept this up, Anakin did not know. He slipped into a sort of fugue state, each breath pulling life from the sky, each exhalation bleeding heat into the crust of Yavin 4. But eventually he blinked and realized it was over, that the fire had burned past him and he knelt in ashes.

Force Sense/Empathy

Force Sense is a basic power allowing Force sensitives to sense their surroundings, feel and determine the thoughts or feelings of others, feel ripples in the Force signifying important events, the presence of the dark side, or even sense the future, while Empathy is the power to sense, communicate, and manipulate emotions.

Anakin senses Lyric's torment when trying to relive a scary memory:

"Is it that you can't remember, or that the memory is too frightening? " Anakin said gently. "That's what this exercise is about. We'll help you remember. Please try -- it's important."

Lyric closed her eyes and didn't reply. Anakin could sense her torment.

Anakin senses a group of predators before he sees them, from their hunger and aggression:

Then he raced to the tunnel behind two Melodies. They tore through the dark passageways. Anakin felt the raiths before he saw them. He sensed their hunger, their frenzied aggression. The group rounded a corner, rocks poised. Before them was a large cavern stacked with pure white eggs. And in its center were three enormous black rodents, their thick, hairless, green tails lashing madly as they faced the two young female Melodies who stood between them and the eggs.

Anakin tells Sannah that he and Tahiri Veila were able to defeat three raiths by sensing their anger the second before they would strike and acting accordingly:

"It's an energy field generated by all living things. It surrounds everything, and binds the galaxy together. At the Jedi academy we learn to feel that field, to control, sense, and alter it. The skills we develop also help us to sense emotions. Tahiri and I used our abilities to feel the raiths' anger, to sense their movements at the split second before they made them. By doing that, we could anticipate where they would strike."

Anakin senses the fear of the populace on Sernpidal, as well as the fact that they are hopeful:

Han considered the words for a moment, then glanced at the old man, and back at Anakin. "What are you sensing?" he asked.

Anakin's eyes opened wide; he was obviously surprised that his father was asking him anything about the Force. Han was as Force-blind as Anakin was sensitive to it, after all, and rarely had he ever asked for any Force-related insights to any events, usually trusting his own instincts and luck instead.

Anakin closed his eyes for a long while. "Fear," he said at length.

"Oh, there's a lot of that," the old man said. "Why wouldn't there be?"

"But something else," Anakin started. He looked hard at his father. "It's more than fear," he decided. "Especially with the ones like that." He pointed to a group of locals rushing past on the opposite side of the avenue, their red-striped white robes flapping behind them in the dusty breeze. "It's almost . . ."

"Religious?" the old man asked, again with a wheezing chuckle.

"Yes," Anakin answered even as Han scowled at the old man. "Spiritual. They're afraid and full of hope all at once."

Anakin senses the death of thousands in a mountain village:

At the reminder, Han brought the Falcon out of its descent and zipped away to the south, toward the nearest seacoast. Nestled in a valley on the back side of the mountain range south of Sernpidal City was a large village, a settlement of several thousand.

Anakin groaned as the Falcon climbed past the initial peaks. Han didn't even have to ask why. The boy was extremely sensitive to disturbances in the Force—he had just felt the death of the mountain village.

Sure enough, as the Falcon crested the last peaks, they saw the disaster, the rushing sea swarming into the valley, washing away homes, trees, everything, with such sudden, violent force that before they even dipped lower they knew that everyone in the valley was already dead.

Anakin extends himself, sensing the sensations of the man riding the speeder with him, the fear of the animals near him, and then senses the yammosk trying to pull Sernpidal's moon into the planet:

He slowed the landspeeder and closed his eyes, feeling the sensations about him, feeling the calm of the old man, the unrest of the planet as it was pulled and twisted by the swiftly passing low moon, the fear of the creatures, reasoning and animal, a palpable terror that the young Jedi could almost taste in his mouth.

Anakin looked deeper, deeper. Anything exerting the kind of power necessary to grab on to a moon could not be invisible to the Force.

The moon, now enormous, crested the horizon, rolling up into the sky. The wind roared; the ground swelled and rolled.

And Anakin felt the tug, not on him, not on anything except for that moon. He opened his eyes, though he kept his mind in that other sensibility, and there before him, he clearly "saw" the tractor beam.

Anakin senses Tuber's pain (a native Dantari) from 500 meters away when Yuuzhan Vong warriors torture him:

It struck him as odd that Tuber had not yet appeared, so he headed down the trail to the Dantari encampment.

He was still a good five hundred meters off when a spike of pain reached him through the Force. He thought immediately of Mara, but it didn't have the feel he would have expected from her. He next thought of Tuber, then caught an undercurrent of fear rolling out from the Dantari camp.

[...]

He worked his way in toward the camp, and twenty meters away he paused in the shadow of a rock. Looking past the boulder, he saw Tuber on his knees, bleeding from cuts over one eye and across his chest. The Imperial crest there had been taken off in strips. It looked as if his captors had decided to flay him. The Dantari's hands had been bound behind his back. The other Dantari likewise were on their knees, all looking drawn and terribly frightened.

Throughout the years on Yavin IV, Anakin would sense elements, crystals, cyclones, and the like all the way on the main gas giant:

While the sensors did their job, Anakin reached out with the sense he trusted most----the Force.

The planet Yavin filled most of his view, its vast orange oceans of gas boiling into fractal, elusive patterns. Its familiar face had marked the days and nights of much of his childhood. The praxeum—his uncle Luke's Jedi academy—was located on Yavin 4, a moon of the gas giant. He could remember watching Yavin in the night sky, a colossal mirage of a planet, wondering what could be there, pushing his evolving Force senses to explore it.

He'd found clouds of methane and ammonia deeper than oceans, hydrogen so stressed by pressure it became metal, life crushed thinner than paper but still thriving, cyclones heavier than lead but faster than the winds of any world habitable by humans. And crystals, sparkling Corusca gems climbing those titan winds, spinning in an ancient dance, capturing what light they could find in the thinner upper atmosphere and gripping it tight in their molecules.

He saw none of this as one might with eyes, of course, but over the nights, through the Force he had felt them, and with references to the library gradually understood them.

He would sense an old friend that used to train with him at the Praxeum on a whole other planet from the cockpit of his X-wing:

Just beyond the vast rim of Yavin, a bright yellowish star winked—Yavin 8, one of the three moons in the system blessed with life. Anakin had a friend there, a native of the world who had trained briefly at the academy and returned home. He could feel her, very faintly.

Still from the cockpit of his X-wing and just recently arrived to Yavin space, Anakin would sense the students on the surface of Yavin IV, clearly sense his friend Tahiri Veila, and also the Peace Brigaders who were waiting near the edge of the system:

Yavin 4 as just around the rim, where he had other friends. In a way, the whole system was like a familiar room to Anakin, the sort he could walk into and immediately know if something was out of place.

And something felt very out of place.

In the Force he could feel the Jedi candidates, for they were all strong with it. He could feel Kam Solusar and his wife Tionne, and the ancient Ikrit, not students but full-fledged Jedi. These were seen as through a cloud, suggesting they were at least trying to maintain the illusion that hid Yavin 4 from the casual eye.

But even through that, one presence shone brilliant, made brighter by familiarity and friendship. Tahiri.

She felt him, too, and though he could not quite hear any actual words she might be trying to send, he did feel a sort of rhythm, as of someone talking quickly, excitedly, without pause for breath.

One corner of Anakin's mouth turned up. Yes, that was Tahiri, all right.

What felt wrong was a little nearer and much weaker. Not Yuuzhan Vong, for the they could not be felt in the Force, but someone who shouldn't be there. Someone slightly confused, but with a growing sense of confidence.

[...]

"My name is Anakin Solo. What are you doing in the Yavin system?"

"We're Corusca gem miners."

"Really. Where's your trawler?"

Another pause, then words underlined with a bit of anger.

"We can see the moon now. We knew it was here all along. Your Jedi sorcery has failed you."

When he's on Yavin IV, Anakin can enter a heightened state of awareness, feeling the Force flow through him stronger than before, as he states that he can sense everything native in the forest. Due to this, he gains the ability to slightly sense Yuuzhan Vong in the Force. This has only occurred on Yavin IV, though:

Adrenaline hummed in Anakin's blood, but his mind was curiously calm. He dodged through the undergrowth, looking for a cave, temple ruins, any place to remove him from his observer. His fatigue sloughed from him like dead cells in a bacta tank, and the Force flowed through him like a river, wild, almost frightening in its sheer, joyous strength.

It was not a state he had quite ever achieved before, an utter awareness of everything around him. Yavin 4 was so alive. And in that matrix of living, pulsing Force, the fliers were bubbles of nothing. The Jedi had learned to detect the Yuuzhan Vong by not detecting them, but before it had always been a matter of focus. He would look at a suspected Yuuzhan Vong, and if he felt nothing, that was likely what he had.

But this was different. It was like suddenly noticing the spaces between worlds. It was a fragile thing, probably something he could never have achieved if he had tried for it, something that might go away if he thought too hard on it.

But for the moment he wasn't doing much thinking. He knew before he should have that the first Yuuzhan Vong he came across on foot was there.

[...]

"How do you know where they are, when you cannot sense Yuuzhan Vong or the life shaped for us?"

"Because I can sense everything native in this forest," replied Anakin. "Every whisper bird and runyip, every stintaril and woolamander. And the ones over there are agitated."

Anakin senses the fear from another Jedi on Eriadu:

“Anakin Solo—“ Something inside her cut her sentence off short.

“It’s a Jedi,” he murmured.

Anakin reaches out with the Force and senses everything from the whispers of Givin minds to the strain of the atmosphere on the planet, then senses the Yuuzhan Vong through his lambent when they arrive in-system:

Anakin hardly paid attention to his companions. He was mostly beyond the plain, boxy room they were "guests" in, riding the Force out through the reaches of the Yag'Dhul system. He brushed the intricate, mathematical beauty of the tides of the planet and its three moons, felt the straining of Yag'Dhul's atmosphere toward space. He heard the whispering of millions of Givin minds in the corridors of their hermetically sealed cities. He touched a billions shards of stone and ice that had never cohered into planets, biding their time until the sun finally caught them in its fiery noose.

And he felt them, the Yuuzhan Vong. Not in the Force exactly, but through the telepathic lambent incorporated in his lightsaber. The feeling was akin to a faint, staticky comm signal—but it was unmistakable.

"They're here," he said.

He then senses Mara Jade's immense pain as she was fighting to kill off her Yuuzhan Vong disease while giving birth:

"They're here," he said.

"Who?" Corran asked.

"The Yuuzhan Vong. They're in the system. I can't tell anything else, nothing about how many or how—" He choked off as something new, strong, and terrible struck him in the Force. He grasped, and tears welled in his eyes, spilling down his cheeks.

"What?" Tahiri said. "What's wrong?"

"Mara," Anakin managed. "Don't you feel it? Aunt Mara is dying. And Uncle Luke . . ." He sprang up from his cross-legged position. "We have to get out of here. Now."

Anakin senses the Yuuzhan Vong laying a trap for him and the Jedi strike team as they approach Myrkr in their stolen ship:

Anakin reached out to the facility with the Force. He no longer felt the pained presence he had noticed before, but the hungry stirring of voxyn was still powerful. The tingle in the back of his neck became a nettling, and, noting that their current approach would keep them well away from the complex, he suddenly understood why the worldship had not hailed them yet.

"They're trying to lead us into a trap."

Force Valor is a light-sided power enabling a Jedi to enhance one's resolve and physical traits, such as strength, durability and speed.

Anakin uses the Force to strengthen himself, allowing him to carry the injured Daeshara'cor after receiving an amphistaff wound in his leg earlier, as well as a punch to the same wound which caused him to collapse due to the pain:

Battle-Meld/Force Meld

Battle-Meld, or Force Meld or Jedi Meld, is a powerful Jedi technique where Jedi can join their minds together. In Outbound Flight, it is revealed that a Jedi Master of great power and depth in the Force is required to successfully utilize it. This should speak volumes to both Anakin's innate affinity with the Force and his great potential.

By telepathically linking their minds together, Jedi can draw on one another's strength for support. Initially referred to as Force-meld or Jedi meld, the power became most commonly known as battle-meld because of its more frequent use in combat. Battle-meld permits a group of Jedi to become stronger than if each stood alone, while also enabling them to communicate with one another through the Force. Using a combination of the group's minds and perceptions, each individual Jedi gains a sense of the entire battle arena, helping them to better discern where to move tactical elements and when to press an attack, hold back, or withdraw. By narrowing his or her focus, a Jedi can also sense the distinct personalities and feelings of the individuals who make up the meld.

Jedi vs Sith: The Essential Guide to the Force

When the Yuuzhan Vong first attacked Dubrillion, Anakin and his siblings would lead a major force of Vong fighters into the near asteroid belt to take advantage of the fact that they've all flown the belt before hand whereas the Vong hadn't. After losing their shields, though, Anakin would instinctively use Battle-Meld to connect his mind with Jaina and Jacen, allowing them to act as one to navigate the asteroid belt and ultimately come out on top against the Vong coralskippers:

Anakin ignored the call and fell into a sense of calmness. Something had guided him in here; something had beckoned to him, promising him a better battlefield against the overwhelming odds.

The Force.

He knew it was the Force. In here, the three young Jedi could use their insights where the pilots of the enemy fighters, whatever they might be, could not. He knew that, instinctively, but now that he was in the midst of this insanity, asteroids, missiles, and enemy ships buzzing all about him, doubts began to fester and grow. He saw Jaina cut up ahead of him; then, using a brilliant barrel-roll-and-swerve maneuver to cut between a pair of asteroids, she rolled off the face of a third and came around firing, her single laser striking three rapid hits on an enemy fighter.

She was in the mode, Anakin realized without doubt. If only he could tap into it . . .

Hear me, came the youngest Solo's telepathic call to his siblings. Join with me.

"Anakin?" came Jacen's conventional reply. Jaina didn't reply, and Anakin sensed that she had already accepted his call.

Three as one, the young Jedi telepathically imparted. Let go. Lend me your eyes.

It happened in a matter of seconds, the three young Solos finding communion, a telepathic joining and bond. Now each flew with the added perspectives offered by the other two flanking the craft, giving each extra eyes, extra perceptions. No reactions now, just the purest of anticipation, as all three gave in to the Force.

They wove with perfect precision, replacing each other in the line, bringing cannons to bear from slightly different angles, ones their enemy-fighter counterparts couldn't anticipate or react to in time.

They came around asteroids with ease, beginning their firing before they ever could logically know than an enemy was around the back side, but shooting with perfect accuracy, blowing fighter after fighter out of the sky, or taking those in close pursuit through such a maze of asteroids that the enemy ships inevitably slammed into one or were forced to break off the chase.

Their symbiosis mounted, and Anakin, as the focal point, felt they were working together and with the Force as he had only dreamed was possible. The perfect squadron, joined in thought and purpose, communicating with each other as quickly as the internal workings of his own brain.

The enemy fighters couldn't come close to pacing the trio; any that got near were just blasted out of the sky or run into asteroids.

Anakin led his siblings in a turn, rushing hard back into the bulk of the enemy forces, dodging asteroids and missiles, scoring hit after hit.

He fell deeper into the Force, his hands moving as a blur, his mind whirling. Under one asteroid, over another, around a third and then a fourth, firing at those precise moments to score hits, spinning snap turns at those precise moments to dodge enemy missiles.

Faster and faster it went, all a blur, Anakin trembling under the strain, feeling the pressure from his siblings as they, too, fell deeper and deeper. It was perfect fighting, perfect teamwork, the three slicing the enemy ranks apart, thinning them with every pass and forcing more and more to abandon, if they could, the insanity of Lando's Folly.

Although earlier Jedi may very well have utilized this power, it was fourteen-year-old Anakin Solo who introduced it to the new Jedi Order during the evacuation of Dubrillion, one of the first New Republic worlds to fall to the Yuuzhan Vong. Shortly after the evacuation, Jaina Solo recalled her brother's actions:

There are still people on Dubrillion, but it's possible that they've already been overwhelmed by the invaders. The entire planet may be lost to us. Yet something happened during the evacuation that does give me some hope, a power that Anakin somehow discovered. I believe every Jedi should know about this.

After we realized the invaders had targeted Dubrillion, everything happened pretty fast. Anakin, Jacen, and I were piloting Lando's TIE fighters, flying surface patrol and doing our best to keep incoming ships away from friendlies. My tracking screen was already glowing red from the sheer number of enemy fighters when they destroyed Belt Runner I, which had been providing our only shielding power. There were just too many of them to fight. I ordered Anakin and Jacen to break back to Dubrillion, but Anakin disagreed, and instructed us to follow him into the asteroid belt called Lando's Folly. The enemy pursued us.

It's hard to explain what happened, but Anakin connected with me and Jacen, and then we all linked together. Using telepathy, Anakin said, Join with me. Three as one. Within seconds, it was if we'd found communion, a telepathic joining and bond. Each of us flew with the added perspectives of, well, of each other. I can only describe it as suddenly having extra eyes and extra perceptions as we all gave in to the Force. Our reactions were transformed into anticipation.

Anakin was the focal point of our symbiosis. We became the perfect squadron, joined in thought and purpose. We weaved through the asteroids and destroyed one enemy fighter after the next. They couldn't keep up with us, at least not until Anakin became overwhelmed and nearly lost consciousness.

Anakin joins his mind with Tahiri Veila's, allowing them both to hurl huge Massassi trees at a corvette-class Yuuzhan Vong ship and nearly crash it, blowing up its cannon structure and leaving half the ship in a fiery mess. From orbit, Jedi Master Kam Solusar would note that he felt an "incredible surge in the Force":

It didn't take the ship long to find them; they hadn't made it more than a kilometer beyond the river. This was no speeder analog, either, but something more corvette-sized.

Tahiri touched Anakin in the Force, tentatively, and for the first time he really felt what they had done to her—the pain and confusion, the sickening nightmare sense of unreality. He poured his sympathy and strength back into her, and the bond strengthened. And as she gripped his fingers tighter, as he finally surrendered the last of his barriers against her—against them—the Force blew through him like a hurricane.

Together you are stronger than the sum of your parts, Ikrit had said.

Together.

They wrenched a thousand-year-old Massassi tree out of the ground and launched it straight up. By the time it struck the Yuuzhan Vong ship it was traveling as fast as a speeder. It smacked into the dovil basal and splintered, twisting the ship half-around. Another tree jerked out of the ground, and another. The ship listed, firing gobs of molten plasma into the trees, not understanding exactly what was happening. One of the trees rammed into the cannon structure, and flame burst out all along one side of the ship.

Anakin and his Jedi strike team, consisting of seventeen Jedi Knights, engage in a Force-meld as they are "captured" and transferred to the base above Myrkr. The feats from this point on are from that meld with his strike team.

Sharing this technique with the other Jedi in Anakin's strike force saves those individuals from the psychological torture the Yuuzhan Vong employ. By telepathically linking their minds together, the Jedi can draw on each other's strength for support and thus resist the breaking.

Anakin senses Alema Rar's resolve harden, Tenal Ka's pain and surprise, as well as Lowbacca's confusion and Jacen's attempt to bring the meld back under control:

Anakin sensed Alema Rar's resolve harden and shared Tenel Ka's surprise when she was struck from behind, and now he perceived Lowie's mind stirring. No sooner had Anakin begun to worry about how a groggy Wookie would impact their plans than he sensed Jacen reaching out to calm their waking friend.

Anakin felt his sister's alarm as acutely as his own.

Oneness

Oneness is a state of union with the Force, although this is usually only achieved after death. While living if a person was to become one with the Force, they would become an extension of the Force, essentially becoming nothing more than a tool while they were at a perfect clam state.

Anakin achieves a state of Oneness right before he dies, causing him to be relieved of all pain, emit a faint aura of light, and killed dozens and dozens of Yuuzhan Vong warriors before being overwhelmed by the Force energy his body was giving off:

Anakin turned toward the primary entrance and focused on what he felt through the lambent crystal. It did not surprise him at all to sense a heavy Yuuzhan Vong presence streaming in from the ambush site.

He set off at a painfully slow run. Twice, he dropped to a knee when his legs buckled—once while trading blows with a glassy-eyed Yuuzhan Vong who had no more business in hand-to-hand combat than he did. He won that fight by slashing open a planting bin, then levitating himself while the nutrient mud spilled out and swept his foe off balance. The next combat he nearly did not survive at all, catching an amphistaff butt in his wound and popping the external stitches. His life was saved only when he used the Force to bounce his blaster off the warrior's brow.

As he retrieved his weapon and rose, Anakin vomited blood. Even before he was finished, he was using the Force to lift himself to his feet, willing himself to run. He had to beat the enemy assault force to the door. At last, he cleared the planting bins and spied the door membrane twenty meters to his left, as wide as an X-wing was long and twice as high. The far corner of the membrane rose slightly.

[...]

The door membrane began to roll upward, revealing forty pairs of Yuuzhan Vong feet waiting to rush inside. Anakin opened himself to the Force completely, drawing it into himself through the power of his emotions—not through his anger or fear like a Dark Jedi, but through his love for his family and his fellow Jedi Knights, through his faith in the Jedi purpose and the promise of the future. The Force poured in from all sides, filling him with a swirling maelstrom of power and purpose, saturating him and devouring him. There was nothing to be frightened of, no reason to grieve. He could feel it flowing into him and himself flowing into it. Anakin was the Force, and the Force was Anakin.

Anakin rose. His body emitted a faint aura of light—the glow of his cells burning out—and the air cracked around him. His injuries no longer pained him. He was acutely aware of everything in the garshal—the musty smell of the droning thud bugs, the sultry heat rising from the planting bins, the huffing breath of his fellow Jedi, even the Yuuzhan Vong. Their presence was as distinct to him as that of his own companions, almost as though the Force had somehow expanded to include them.

Firing as he ran, Anakin raced along the rising door. Every bolt blasted a Yuuzhan Vong foot. Muffled roars reverberated through the membrane. Ahead of him, half a dozen warriors dropped and rolled into the grashal. He blasted these before they could rise, then reached the other end and stroked the tickle pad. The door lowered again.

"Hutt breath!" Jaina cursed over the comlink. "She's escaping."

Anakin could feel it, too. The voxyn was moving down and away. He activated his own comlink. "The impostor must have opened an escape tunnel." It no longer hurt to speak, but his aura had gone from faint to bright. His cells were burning like fire. "Jacen, you're in charge. Take everyone and go after her."

[...]

A plasma ball roared through the grashal door and set fire to a twenty-meter swath of cloning vines. Anakin charged back toward the melted membrane, miniature forks of lightning dancing off his arms and legs, the Force swirling through him like fire, burning more ferociously every moment. He was completely filled with the strength of the light side now; his injured body could hold no more. The energy was burning its way out of him, consuming a vessel too weakened to contain it.

Yuuzhan Vong—their feet fully intact—poured in five abreast. He dropped the first rank from fifteen meters out, his blaster pistol singing out twice between each step, every bolt burning through a face or a throat. The volcano cannon roared again, and a sphere of white fire blossomed in front of him, seemingly from nowhere. Anakin dived and rolled into the wall, hit boots-first, sprang into a black flip, returned to his feet ten meters from the explosion.

"Anakin!" Jaina's cry resembled a scream.

Go! He commanded her through the Force. She's getting away!

The blaster sang out in Anakin's hand, dropping Yuuzhan Vong as fast as it could fire. More warriors poured in. A razor bug buried itself in his shoulder, his jumpsuit half disintegrated by the Force energy escaping his body and no longer offered much protection. He allowed the impact to spin him around, fired again and once more, heard the depletion alarm. The Yuuzhan Vong hurled handfuls of thud bugs and rushed, already pulling amphistaffs off their waists.

Anakin threw the blaster pistol at the first and dropped him and leapt the second, thumbing his lightsaber to life in the air. He landed in front of the entrance and began a whirling dance of slash and parry, blocking once and striking twice, every attack a killing blow. His aura was burning so brightly that he cast shadows behind his foes. He batted the blade left to right, overpowering two blocks to open two throats, then sent another warrior tumbling with a hook kick to the head.

And still they came, piercing Anakin in three places, one amphistaff sinking its fangs into his flesh. The Force scalded the poison from his system before he felt it, and the new wounds troubled him less than the old one—but there were a dozen more warriors behind them, and he could not hold forever. He killed another, then another, took a crippling slash to his thigh, and gave ground. The Yuuzhan Vong rushed, trying to slip past to the right.

The longblaster roared from the pen area, blowing a head-sized hole through one Yuuzhan Vong and a fist-sized hole through the one behind him. Anakin launched himself into a back flip and landed five meters away. His aura flickered wildly as his cells began to burn and burst. He hazarded a glance over his shoulder and saw Jaina peering over the pit wall, tears streaming down her cheeks, the longblaster propped against her shoulder. Jacen was beside her, likewise weeping, trying to pull her away.

Go! Anakin said through the Force. I can't hold.

The Yuzhan Vong charged again, and Jaina fired. Another warrior fell, and the rest came. Anakin flipped another five meters back—then felt someone, a Yuuzhan Vong, creeping along the far wall of the grashal. He retreated until he could see the figure: the Jedi impostor, perhaps thirty meters distant, dragging a heavy cargo pod toward the strike team's makeshift opening.

The warriors arrived again, and Anakin had to defend himself. Purple blade ticking back and forth, blocking and parrying and slipping strike after strike, he faded two steps and saw an opening. He brought his feet up and planted his heels in the center Yuuzhan Vong's chest. His lightsaber flashed twice, cleaving the skulls of the adjacent warriors, then he kicked off, launching himself into a series of Force-assisted cartwheels.

[...]

That was what the impostor had, a cargo pod full of voxyn tissue, enough to clone a million. Anakin's aura flashed and dimmed, flashed again and dimmed more, his cells rupturing in chain reactions, the cycles coming faster and faster as less of him remained to contain the energy. He felt himself not exactly departing, but melting back into the Force. He pulled his last thermal detonator off his harness and thumbed the timer three clicks.

Go now.

"Anakin, I can't!" Jaina commed.

Anakin raised the detonator so his brother and sister could see. Thirty seconds. He released the trigger. Take her, Jacen. Kiss Tahiri for me.

With the charging warriors almost on him again, Anakin threw the detonator across the grashal. He wasn't conscious of using the Force to guide it, but he must have, because it hit the impostor in the head.

Anakin was too busy parrying to see what happened for the next few seconds, but when he finally managed to spring away from his attackers—he was no longer strong enough to flip or cartwheel—the impostor was gathering himself up, rubbing his head and searching for what had struck him. Even from thirty meters, his broken nose and misshapen eye orbit identified him clearly as Nom Anor.

When the executor's gaze fell on the silver sphere, his real eye grew as large as his plaeryin bol. He reached down.

Anakin used the Force to nudge the sphere away, then caught an amphistaff in the ribs and went down hard, letting his lightsaber fall from his hand. His aura was only a faint glow, flickering between dim and nonexistent. The maelstrom inside was dying away now, flowing back into the Force.

Nom Anor rushed for the detonator again. Anakin waited, waited until the executor was almost on it, then reached out with the Force one last time, rolling the sphere toward the cargo pod.

He did not hear the angry curse that followed, nor did he see Nom Anor fleeing at a dead run.

By then, Anakin was gone.

Only Jacen and Jaina remain behind, watching their brother beat back the Yuuzhan Vong warriors sent against him, then slowly become more and more overwhelmed. Perhaps for the first time since the Yuuzhan Vong invasion began, Anakin fights completely without hatred or anger. Instead, he displays enough ferocity and expertise that he seems to have truly opened himself to the Force. In that instant, he feels a kind of external awareness, almost as though there were another Jedi in the room, guiding him to a store of genetic material—cell samples from the voxyn queen.

Soon Anakin reaches the balance point. He has one chance to survive—but to do so, he will have to leave the cell samples untouched, allowing the Yuuzhan Vong to replicate their experiments and create another voxyn queen. But if he turns aside to destroy the cell samples, he will be completely cut off. While the Yuuzhan Vong have strict order not to kill Jacen or Jaina, they have no such instructions concerning Anakin.

Anakin makes his choice, Before the eyes of his brother and sister, he destroys the cache of genetic samples, then falls under a hail of amphistaff blows from the swarm of Yuuzhan Vong warriors that descent upon him. All that remains is the destruction of the voxyn queen. With his dying breath, Anakin commands his brother and sister to leave him to his fate while they finish the mission.

Anakin Solo had been widely considered the logical choice to succeed Luke Skywalker as head of the Jedi order. His actions on Baanu Rass only deepened his legend. He fought against hordes of enemies without ego or fear, and in the end sacrificed himself so that the other members of his team could live. Cut down by a rain of Yuuzhan Vong amphistaffs while buying time for the others to destroy the queen voxyn, Anakin passed into the Force with a shudder felt halfway across the galaxy.

Pain Resistance/Endurance

Anakin spent an hour climbing halfway up a mountain in search of Lyric:

"Where's the nest?" Anakin asked in a voice that couldn't be argued with.

The boy pointed to a spot halfway up the mountain, and Anakin and Tahiri immediately raced toward it.

"Be here when we return to take us to the cove," Anakin called over his shoulder.

They'd been climbing for over an hour. Anakin could hear the rasp of his breath, the thundering of his heart. Tahiri was right behind him. She, too, was gasping. There was less oxygen in the air because of the altitude, and several times Anakin had felt dizzy, felt black walls threatening to close out his consciousness, and he'd turned around to make sure Tahiri was still on her feet. They didn't speak as they climbed. Instead they focused on the dark hole where the young Melodie had pointed. Believe and you succeed, Anakin thought as he climbed.

That was part of the Jedi Code. Anakin repeated it over and over in his head. He saw the purplish rocks beneath his scraped hands begin to lighten as dawn threatened to cover the moon in its soft glow. Anakin climbed faster. They stopped five meters from the entrance to the avril's nest. Anakin could hear the creature shrieking within the shallow cave. He and Tahiri crept forward, trying not to dislodge any rocks. They didn't want the bird to know they were there. Carefully they moved toward the opening, peeking around rocks until they were directly below the cave.

Anakin spent three days running from Yuuzhan Vong warriors hunting him and Mara Jade Skywalker, receiving various minor wounds that would leave his arms and legs burning. He also had to deal with intense rain and subsequently mud:

For three days they had been running through the mountains and had been pursued from almost the very first moment of their flight.

[...]

Throughout the run they had been miserable. The rain had come on so quickly and poured so hard that Anakin had wondered if somehow the Yuuzhan Vong controlled it or if he was just growing more and more paranoid. The Yuuzhan Vong who hunted them seemed to take great delight in coursing them and chasing them. The razorbugs constantly flew from shadows, inflicting little nicks and slices. His arms and legs burned from cuts and fatigue. His robes, which were leaden with so much rain and mud, seemed more holes than they were cloth.

Stranded on Yavin IV and attempting to free Tahiri Veila from Yuuzhan Vong clutches, Anakin would team up with Vua Rapuung to enter the Vong camps and search his way for his friend. Looking to fix up his lightsaber with a newly acquired lambent crystal, Anakin had to return to the water pool he dropped it in. To do so, he had to crawl through a damutek root for a kilometer, which constricted on him with such strength that Anakin had to pull himself forward by "the strength of his fingers". He would describe the experience as trying to "crawl up the esophagus of a snake intent in swallowing". The experience made his muscles tremble even when he was actively using the Force to replenish them, there was "gentle but unrelenting current" of water constantly pushing on him which made him stop his progress altogether at times, and ended up crawling for over an hour:

The damutek root was a hollow tube, and when Anakin and Vua Rapuung entered it, it was almost a meter in diameter. Close, but not claustrophobic.

As soon as it sensed their presence, it constricted, hugging the contours of their bodies with insistent strength. Anakin had to straighten his arms in front of him and drag himself downward with the strength of his fingers.

He felt as if he was suffocating. He couldn't go backwards, not with Vua Rapuung behind him. To make matters worse, he was moving against a gentle but unrelenting current. When the pressure against him grew too great he would curl his body into a fetal position, something that took almost every bit of strength he had. When he released and straightened his body, it took several seconds for the root walls to contract and conform to his body again. It felt like trying to crawl up the esophagus of a snake intent on swallowing. The only problem with that analogy was that if he were doing that, he would be assured of light at the end of the mucilaginous tunnel. Here he was crawling toward darkness, maybe nothingness. What if the root ended in a sealed aquifer? How long would the breather shoved down his windpipe continue to work? Until he starved, probably.

If he ever got off of Yavin 4, he promised himself, he would visit his uncle's homeworld, Tatooine, or some other similarly desiccated place. He had had more than enough of water and other fluids on this trip to last him decades.

Fighting a nattering little panic, Anakin continued dragging himself forward. Minutes piled into hours.

[...]

But he couldn't. Even the insanely reckless Vua Rapuung thought so, or they would never be squeezing themselves down a kilometer of small intestine.

Tahiri could hang in there for another two days. She had to. And to save her, he could crawl through anything.

Muscles trembling, even when he freshened them with the Force, he moved on.

When he finally emerged into a space large enough that he could float free and touch nothing, he silently celebrated it by stretching, bending, kicking his arms, and waving his feet.

When confronting the Shaper Mezhan Kwaad, the Vong shoots out her fingers through Anakin's forearm and wraps around it, sending torment through every muscle in his body. She would then increase his pain two more times, each doubling her efforts, when she saw Tahiri lifting his lightsaber. Despite this and his earlier leg injury, he manages to stay upright and conscious:

Mezhan Kwaad spread her eight fingers, as if waving. Faster than the eyes could catch, those fingers elongated, spearing out. Before the commander could even blink, one went through his eye and out the back of his skull. The warriors around all dropped without a sound, similarly murdered. Anakin lurched forward, but a flick of the shaper's wrist, and one of the finger-spears pierced his forearm and wrapped around it. Torment contracted every muscle in Anakin's body, and his lightsaber went clattering down the landing ramp.

[...]

Anakin's pain lessened, but he found he could move little more than his eyes.

[...]

The younger shaper hesitated, then started toward Anakin. She stopped when she saw Anakin's lightsaber floating up from behind him.

Mezhan Kwaad saw it, too. She sent a jolt of pain coursing through Anakin's body that scrambled his thoughts into random impulses.

But the lightsaber continued on. Mezhan Kwaad redoubled her torture of Anakin.

Anakin took part in a strike team who's goal was to infiltrate the Yuuzhan Vong base above Myrkr in an attempt to destroy the voxyn queen and end their threat to the Jedi. On board the Vong ship heading to the moon, Anakin and all the other Jedi were subjected to a 'breaking", where Yuuzhan Vong commander Duman Yaght tortured them, beating them physically and subjecting them to effects of a voxyn on board, whether it was allowing the creature to scream in their face, usually strong enough to knock out one of them, get bit by its tail and experience the neural tail shock, or receive acid burns from the creature's drool. The exert is about Jaina, but it states that every Jedi went through the "breaking" and were all tied up with their hands by their knees, stripped of most clothing, and bound by blorash jelly:

Like the rest of the strike team, Jaina sat facing a wall of red yorik coral, bent uncomfortably forward with her elbows between her knees, her ankles and wrists fastened to the floor by gummy masses of blorash jelly. She was barely clothed and filthy and in too much pain to care, through she did wish it were not so cold. She was shivering and shivering made everything hurt more.

Ulaha screamed again, and Alema Rar, sitting next to Jaina in much the same condition, mumbled something through swollen lips. Jaina, who was having trouble collecting her thoughts after the voxyn screeched in her face, recalled something about teamwork and opened her emotions to her companions. Immediately, she felt Jacen weaving them into a single entity, calling upon their mutual confidence and fellowship to lend strength to their suffering comrade.

Though everyone except Ganner—who was being held somewhere else in the mistaken belief that he was the group's leader—had faced the breaking at least once, Duman Yaght kept returning to Ulaha, allowing the Bith just enough time to drop into a Jedi healing trance before awakening her to begin again. Poor Ulaha had been to the center of the hold so many times that the others were attempting to prolong their own sessions to buy time for the Bith to recover. Jaina recalled dimly that she had managed only one answer before an angry Duman Yaght pushed her at the creature's face, drawing the compressed-wave screech that had blasted her into unconsciousness.

Source: The New Jedi Order - Star by Star

Anakin then takes constant pain for 15 minutes but never cries out, although he was helped by the Jedi's Force meld. He is, however, praised by Duman for his resilience:

Instead of returning Jaina to her place on the wall, Duman Yaght forced her to stand beside him as Anakin was secured to the floor facedown. The commander summoned his pet forward and began to give orders, and for the next quarter hour Jaina was forced to watch.

Bolstered by the support of the strike team, Anakin never cried out. Eventually even Duman Yaght clucked his tongue in admiration.

"He takes pain well, your brother," the commander said.

Source: The New Jedi Order - Star by Star

Immediately after this, the voxyn rears up behind him and rakes his back with its claws, releasing a poison into his system and causing him to bleed so much that it looked to Jaina that he was wearing red clothes:

He barked a command, and the voxyn held a foot over Anakin's back. The sharp claws were coated in a green slime—the medium, Jaina knew, for the retroviruses that flourished in the thing's toe pads.

"Is that fear in your eyes, Jaina Solo?" Duman asked. "Then there is no need to tell you about the fevers. You know what will become of your brother if he is scratched."

[...]

Duman Yaght's hand tightened on her neck. "You believe I won't do this?"

He whistled sharply, and the voxyn raked its claw down Anakin's back. Jaina felt a shock through the Force, but somehow her brother still did not scream.

[...]

Jaina could not take her eyes off her brother, now so coated in blood he looked almost clothed.

While wearing a jumpsuit that absorbed most of the damage, Anakin is still knocked back by a thud bug onto his back, and he thinks he received a broken rib from it. Despite this, he would go on to defeat a Yuuzhan Vong warrior in single combat not ten minutes later:

Waving the others to follow, Anakin charged forward behind the fiery curtain. A line of thud bugs crackled along the wall, then one took him in the chest and slammed him down on his back. Bela and Krasov pounded past, pouring blasterfire into the bulkhead, and Alema came next, pausing to pull him to his feet. It hurt to breathe and he might have a cracked rib, but his jumpsuit's armored liner had spared him any blood or deep pain.

Source: The New Jedi Order - Star by Star

Anakin is pierced by a thrown amphistaff, tumbles to the ground which swings the weapon's head inside him, and then pushes in the staff some more when he lands on the end of the staff. Despite this, he manages to fling special salt to Jaina to free her of blorash jelly and then remove the spear, which causes him even more pan. This wouldn't stop him from immediately after dueling a Yuuzhan Vong warrior and defeating him by sweeping his leg out from under him and slitting his throat:

Lightsaber

Anakin has a unique lightsaber, in that it uses a Yuuzhan Vong lambent crystal as its focusing crystal, instead of an adegan or synthetic crystal. This special crystal allows Anakin to vaguely sense Yuuzhan Vong in the Force, something that had previously been impossible:

Disappointment edged at Anakin, but he fought it back.

He could feel the lambent, but not in the Force, not the way he could feel everything else about his weapon. Everything was in place, fitted, ready to work. But what he had told Rapuung was the truth; the real moment a lightsaber became a Jedi's weapon was when the first amperes of power of the other and a part of the Jedi building it.

[...]

With a sudden surge of confidence, he reached for the parts of his lightsaber in the Force and then pressed deeper.

So he had to work indirectly with the Yuuzhan Vong and their things. Fine. But behind the seeming disunity, there must be unity.

And in a flash of epiphany he had it. The link between the rest of his lightsaber and the lambent was Anakin Solo. It was in him the changes had to happen.

Power surged and crackled, and the cavern echoed with a snap-hiss, and somewhere Vua Rapuung snarled.

Anakin opened his eyes to the purple glow of his lightsaber and felt a grin slash his face in half.

"I am a Jedi again," he said quietly.

During the war with the Yuuzhan Vong, Anakin Solo was searching for the Jedi student Tahiri Veila on Yuuzhan Vong-occupied Yavin 4 when his lightsaber's focusing crystals became damaged. Anakin disguised himself as a slave to infiltrate a Yuuzhan Vong compound and was assigned to harvest Yuuzhan Vong lambents, living crystals that provide illumination when stimulated by something similar to telepathic energy. After two days of meditation, Anakin attuned himself to a lambent crystal, which he used to repair his lightsaber. He soon discovered that his attunement to this crystal enabled a vague awareness of any nearby Yuuzhan Vong, who had been previously undetectable to any Jedi's Force powers.

Source: Jedi vs Sith: The Essential Guide to the Force

On Yavin 4, the crystal in Anakin's lightsaber had been destroyed by a close brush with the singularity of a dovin basal. Pretending to be a slave, working the fields that grew various sorts of Yuuzhan Vong greenware, he'd been assigned to work a field of lambents. The plants produced small living crystals that the Yuuzhan Vong used for hand torches and valence inputs. The crystals were controlled via a telepathic bond formed when the crystals were harvested. Anakin had bonded with a lambent and used it to rebuild his lightsaber, with the unexpected result that he could now occasionally sense the Yuuzhan Vong and their living servants. It had given him the edge he needed to survive Yavin 4 and rescue Tahiri.

A description of how Anakin senses the Yuuzhan Vong:

On the way up, Anakin had noticed an interesting thing.

Vua Rapuung existed for him now.

Not in the Force, not with the clarity that the Force offered, but he was there, a shadow of fury cast from the lambent to Anakin's mind.

That wasn't all. He also felt the confused, staticky hum of the hundreds of Yuuzhan Vong around him. The noise cut in and out, like a bad comm transmission, but it was undeniably there.

It wasn't the Force, but it was something, and he could see their works with new eyes. His gaze was drawn to details in the living structures around him he hadn't noticed—or cared to notice—before.

The Jedi were the only unknown element in the extensive Yuuzhan Vong planning and calculations before they invaded the galaxy. Due to their skill and being seen as formidable warriors, as well as their ability to use the Force to figure out a way to detect the Yuuzhan Vong even though the invaders are "immune" to it, the Yuuzhan Vong take it to the extreme and plan to remove the Jedi from the equation altogether:

The Jedi are the only unknown element in the Yuuzhan Vong's calculations. Not only are the Jedi formidable warriors, but they can somehow detect even a disguised Yuuzhan Vong. Because the invaders are immune to the Force, they "feel" different to Jedi who are trying to sense them (particularly with the Sense-based ability See Force; the Jedi have learned to look for people who do not appear in the Force). Comprehending the danger the Jedi represent prompts the Yuuzhan Vong to formulate a plan to remove the Jedi from the equation altogether.

Warmaster Tsavong Lah considers the Jedi to be the most powerful enemies to the Yuuzhan Vong:

The Yuuzhan Vong consider the Jedi “formidable foes”:

Tsavong Lah knows differently, of course. His truce with the infidels is only a matter convenience to him. The Yuuzhan Vong realize that the greatest threats to their plans are the Jedi. Note: Although this might seem like a concession of skill, this is just Jacen's own musings, and the next immediate line states that his heart wasn't in the lightsaber practice he had just been performing.

Weapons Mastery and Technical Skill

Around the time he graduated from the Jedi Praxeum, it seemed to Jaina that Anakin was always practicing fencing with his lightsaber and was probably given exercises by Luke to further increase his strength, insight, and attunement to the Force:

After a few days of play and relaxation at the Crystal Reef, she’d start working with her new Jedi Master.

In a way, Jacen and Anakin had already started. Recently it seemed that they’d been practicing with their lightsabers every time she turned around. In light of their new apprenticeship, that made sense. Fencing improved physical condition, but its primary purpose was helping Jedi attune to the Force. Uncle Luke had probably given the boys exercises devised to move them toward the next level of strength and insight.

Anakin would constantly be training with his lightsaber against a training remote, sometimes until he was soaked in sweat:

Jacen heard the telltale his and electric snapping as he approached the main chamber of the Millennium Falcon. Anakin was in there, he realized, and practicing with his lightsaber.

Always practicing.

[...]

There was Anakin, soaked in sweat, dodging and turning, his lightsaber flashing to parry each of the any energy zaps of the small remote as it floated all about him, seeking a hole in his defenses.

His little brother was getting good, Jacen had to admit, as Anakin brought the glowing blade down in a cross to the left, up high to the left, and back over to the right in flashing sequence, each movement neatly picking off an energy missile.

The sequence ended, and Anakin clicked off his blade and stood breathing heavily.

Anakin knows how to fight with two lightsabers, as he protected the injured and prone body of Daeshara'cor from a group of Reptoids, utilizing both his and her lightsaber:

Beyond them, coming down the walkway, Anakin had stopped at the top of a small rise. He'd set Daeshara'cor down and, with two lightsabers, was holding off a knot of the reptoids.

It was the constant spars between Anakin and his older brother Jacen, with their styles so similar but execution so different, that had matured Anakin so much, according to Mara Jade Skywalker:

Anakin pressed the unchoreographed attack, following slashes with short, chopping strikes. Mara was struck by the intensity, the balance, the sheer accuracy of Anakin's use of the Force to anticipate Luke, pressing his attack beyond obvious blocks and parries. When Luke mounted a wild, sparkling offense, pushing Anakin past anything the young Jedi had faced before, Mara knew he, too, was impressed.

She'd worried about the Solo brothers' rivalry. Now she saw the practicing against Jacen—so similar in style, so different in execution—had matured Anakin tremendously.

A few weeks after receiving gruesome injuries to his forearm and thigh, Anakin would build and train against droids designed to move like Yuuzhan Vong warriors, using two training remotes to warm up for at least a few minutes:

Deep in the Destroyer's belly, Anakin Solo hardly noticed the transition, so intent was he on what he was doing. He stood quickly into narrow profile, the point of his lightsaber aiming toward the deck, pommel level with his forehead and pointed at the ceiling. With two quick twists of his wrist, he deflected a pair of stun bolts from the remote whirring around him. He flipped the lightsaber to an identical position behind his back to catch the blast from a second remote, then dropped into a crouch, his luminescent weapon whipping up to high guard. A leaping somersault carried him over the sudden coordinated flurry of shots from the two flying spheres. By the time his feet touched the deck, he was weaving a complex set of parries that sent reddish bolts hissing against the walls.

He was in the rhythm, now, and his blue eyes sparkled like electron arcs as the stinging rays came faster, more often, better timed. After a few minutes of this, sweat was plastering his brown hair to his head and soaking his dark Jedi robes, but none of the painful though harmless attacks had found their mark.

He was warmed up, now.

Anakin possibly displays knowledge and use of Trakata fighting a Yuuzhan Vong warrior, turning off his lightsaber to get under the guard of the Vong and reigniting it under his armpit:

Anakin leapt in and turned aside an amphistaff slashing toward Rapuung with the blade of his lightsaber. Rapuung's attacker, recognizing the new danger, twisted the amphistaff and let it go limp. Then he whipped it underhand toward Anakin's throat. Anakin did a quick circular parry, wrapping the limp staff around his blade, and did a jumping front kick. The Yuuzhan Vong blocked that with his free hand, but some of the blow's force got through. Anakin cut his blade, dropped in at close quarters, jammed the blade emitter under the warrior's armpit, and flicked it back on.

The warrior jerked and fell away, exhaling a cloud of steam.

In trakata, a Jedi can take advantage of one of the lightsaber's unique abilitiesthe ability to be rapidly switched off and on. In "Passing the Blade," a Jedi shuts down the saber to momentarily bypass an enemy's block, then immediately reactivates it for a killing strike. If two combatants have locked their sabers together, a trained Jedi may choose to deactivate his or her saber and throw the enemy off balance.

Lightsaber and Combat Skill Feats

Anakin spars evenly with his older brother Jacen for at least a few minutes, with both of them gaining momentary advantages over the other later in the duel. This was performed after Anakin had been training with the training remote to the point where his breath came heavily and he was soaked in sweat:

"Prove it." Anakin accentuated his challenge by turning on the blade, causing it to flash and hum to life right before Jacen's face.

"If I must, to get the point through your thick skull," Jacen answered, calmly walking by. He turned to face Anakin and brought his own lightsaber to glowing life before him.

Anakin closed the hatch—Uncle Luke wouldn't be happy to find them sparring in here, nor would their father!—and turned back to face his brother, who was already moving in closer with deliberate, measured steps. "Maybe you'll admit the truth when I beat you," Anakin said, but it was apparent that Jacen wasn't listening, was already falling into the levels of deepest concentration, the preface to the conscious emptiness that was pure Force acceptance.

Both paused for a long while, and then, suddenly, Anakin came rushing ahead, lightsaber twirling up and around, slicing down for Jacen's shoulder, and when Jacen easily parried, Anakin sent it around the other way, diving along the opposite angle.

Jacen parried that, too, catching Anakin's weapon with his own and bringing both around and down, back out to Jacen's left, and then around some more. When the blades were each out straight downward between the brothers, Jacen rolled his wrist, looping his blade further about Anakin's.

But Anakin was up to the measure, and he snapped his blade straight downward to break it free of the dangerous tangle, then brought it up again fast enough to knock Jacen's blade aside before his brother could put it point-in at his throat and score a quick victory.

Anakin brought his blade back past one shoulder and slapped it out, sparks flying as it connected with Jacen's parry. Again, Anakin attacked, and then again, as if he meant to beat his brother back right through a wall.

"Anger betrays you," Jacen said, and the words sent a chill through Anakin, words that spoke of the truth of the moment, and of the dark side of the Force, a place no Jedi could ever afford to visit.

Anakin's attack mellowed, went more to finesse, subtle thrusts and slashes, and deceptively slight movements to parry Jacen's every attack.

And so they went for many minutes, back and forth across the room, each seeming to gain a momentary edge only to lose it again through the other's quick response. They had to trust in themselves, and in each other, for there were no practice modes on their lightsabers. The slightest miss, or wrong deflection, or too-far thrust, could bring serious harm.

But they went on anyway, their philosophical differences playing themselves out through sword fighting, and before long, Jacen's warning notwithstanding, both were into it viciously, swiping and dodging, thrusting low and high, and more than parrying, batting each other's blade aside. Jacen came out of that fit first, mellowing his parries to those subtle and beautiful shifts and turns, and offering few offensive routines at all.

That sudden passivity only spurred Anakin on to greater intensity. His lightsaber slashed once, twice, and thrice from the left, then he spun about a complete circuit, reversing his grip as we went, and slashed, once, twice, thrice, from the right.

Jacen parried the first three from his left, then parried again and again from the right, and then . . . ducked.

And Anakin, so into the flow, thinking to take the third parry and spin back the other way, swooshed his blade right over his ducking brother and overbalanced as the weapon hit nothing but air.

Up Jacen came behind it, a sudden subtle stab, that sent Anakin's lightsaber flying away and made the younger boy leap back and grab his stung hand.

Jacen clicked off his blade. "The Force is a power within, for the good of within," he said. "We're not a galactic patrol."

Anakin stared at his brother long and hard, clearly surprised that Jacen, who practiced far less than he, had so cleanly beaten him.

Although it was only a spar, both of the Solo siblings have to be very skilled so that they don't harm each other, and their spars have been described as "intense":

The two brothers had different ideas on what the future of the Jedi should be. Jacen believed in the spiritual aspects of the Force, while Anakin held to its physical uses. They clashed often, claiming their intense lightsaber duels were simply training.

For three days, Anakin had to help a sick Mara Jade Skywalker run from countless Yuuzhan Vong warriors through Dantooine's wilderness. His limbs would start burning from both fatigue and razorbug scratches, it started to rain heavily, and yet he still had to fight Yuuzhan Vong warriors despite this being the first time he was ever encountering them. The only time he had fought one before was when he crushed one with a rock and luckily killed another:

Anakin had saved her life on Dantooine, where Yuuzhan Vong warriors chased them for days while her mysterious disease slowly sapped her strength.

Source: The New Jedi Order - Balance Point

Mara and Anakin Solo traveled to Dantooine, where Mara hoped to halt the progress of her disease in the unspoiled expanses of the gentle grasslands. Yet the Yuuzhan Vong invaders had already reached Dantooine, and what should have been a peaceful convalescence turned into a gritty struggle to stay alive.

Source: The New Essential Chronology

Despite this, Anakin would use his environment to his advantage to fight three Yuuzhan Vong warriors, intelligently taking them out one by one until help came in the aid of Luke and Jacen:

Her head came up, and her eyes focused beyond him. He spun, barely a dozen meters into the clearing. Behind him were three Yuuzhan Vong warriors. Two moved right and left, leaving the third to come straight on. They came slowly, cautiously, and he wondered why. Any one of them could break me in half.

[...]

He thumbed his blade alive. The energy rod glowed with a violet intensity. He held it forward, with the hilt near his belly and the blade pointing down at the ground. He brought his right leg forward, knee bent; and he planted his left foot. He could see all three of them and nodded to each in succession. Nodding again to the central figure, Anakin impatiently flicked his blade up a centimeter or two, inviting the Yuuzhan Vong onward.

The centermost warrior began to whirl his amphistaff over his head. Lightning seared white-hot edges on his armor and along the amphistaff. The Yuuzhan Vong started forward, and Anakin feinted toward him, kicking a lump of wet sand in his direction. The warrior retreated a step, then his companions hooted at him.

All of a sudden Anakin knew exactly what he had to do. He knew the proper series of steps he had to move through to save Mara. Without giving it any conscious thought, he allowed his body to flow through the choreography that came to him through the Force.

Pivoting on his right foot, he lunged at the Yuuzhan Vong on his right. The warrior leapt back, only to slam himself into one of the plinths. As that warrior stumbled to the ground, Anakin dodged to his left, taking a step toward the central warrior. Because his earlier move had exposed his back to the left warrior, that Yuuzhan Vong had driven at him. Anakin reversed his grip on the lightsaber and stabbed it backward past his right hip, impaling the alien warrior on the blade.

The Yuuzhan Vong's armor held, preventing him from being opened up, but he did double over from the force of the blow. For his part, Anakin used some of the collision against the blade to drive himself forward. He rolled into a somersault, then sprung to the right and brought his lightsaber around in a waist-high cut that caught the center Yuuzhan Vong across the thighs. Armor sizzled and crackled, but stopped the lightsaber from slashing through flesh and muscle. Instead he cut the legs out from under the Yuuzhan Vong, dumping him to the clearing floor.

Less than a day after running from Yuuzhan Vong warriors for three days straight and having his wrist broken, Anakin fights with Jacen to hold off the reptilian Yuuzhan Vong foot soldiers attacking the Dubrillion refugees on Dantooine:

The Battle of Dantooine began as a slaughter. The Yuuzhan Vong used the opportunity to test new ground tactics against their prey, unveiling beetle-like crawlers and throngs of reptilian Chazrach slaves from their home galaxy. The Jedi staged delaying tactics, allowing most of the surviving refugees to pack up and head for space, where Rogue Squadron (including its newest member, Jaina Solo) and Admiral Kre'fey of the Ralroost helpd them escape to hyperspace.

Source: The New Essential Chronology

Jacen's green blade slashed right and left as he and Anakin attacked the flank of the Yuuzhan Vong thrust driving Luke back. Jacen didn't care about finesse or skill; he just set about butchering soldiers. What he was doing, he knew, had nothing to do with being a Jedi. Yes, he could it when the sparks of life winked out, but the Yuuzhan Vong slave troops felt less like living creatures to him than droids made of flesh and blood. They are alive in the same way plants are. They might once have been individuals, but now they are just puppets, lethal puppets.

Jacen lashed out to his right with the lightsaber, burning a gap in a soldier's spine. The soldier collapsed at Anakin's feet. The younger Jedi leapt back, then scythed his blade low, through the legs of a Yuuzhan Vong trooper. That one went down and tripped up two others. Anakin dispatched them with quick thrusts to the backs of their necks, then flicked his left hand in Jacen's direction.

Beyond Jacen a trooper flew back, as if he'd been hit in the chest with a metric ton of transparisteel. The telekinetic blast cleared a path to Luke's side. Jacen slipped into it, keeping the gap open, then Anakin joined him. In a line the trio of Jedi fended off the soldiers, cutting them down and pressing them back toward the gap.

As their stand halted the thrust at that gap, Elegos's shuttle ruddered around and laced an inferno of laser and blaster fire into the column of Yuuzhan Vong soldiery. Jacen raised a hand to shield his eyes as row after row of little reptoids vanished in a brilliant blaze of light. Those Yuuzhan Vong soldiers untouched by the shuttle's lasers came on, but the Jedi dispatched them easily enough.

After the above fighting, Luke Skywalker manages to take out a Yuuzhan Vong ship by closing its dovin basal in conjunction with hitting it with four proton torpedoes. The torpedoes blow and send out a powerful shockwave through both the New Republic troops and the Yuuzhan Vong forces, managing to knock Jacen down and disorient Anakin. After he gets his bearings, Anakin would then both fight off the soldiers and deflect blaster bolts from enemy shooters alongside his older brother:

Then the proton torpedoes detonated. One after another the four missiles slammed into the ground and exploded. Their blasts scattered Yuuzhan Vong warriors and lit the night. They gouged a huge canyon across the Yuuzhan Vong line of advance, and the shock waves were such that the ground rippled even into the refugee compound. Soldiers fell on both sides of the battlefield, and rampart's collapsed.

[...]

Anakin picked himself up off the ground and blinked away the flash of torpedo detonations that had ruined his night vision. He found his lightsaber and brought it to hand, then called out for his brother. "Jacen! Jacen!"

He turned to his left as he heard a reply, then lashed at the crowd of reptoids swarming over his brother. He cut one or two away, then a ripple of Force energy pulsed upward, scattering the others. Some rolled to their feet and struck wildly at him, but Anakin parried their assaults easily and replied with cuts that dropped them.

Bleeding from the nose and mouth, with his left eye slowly swelling shut, Jacen regained his feet. He extended his right hand, drawing his lightsaber to it, and in a second, thumbed the green blade to life. "That thing, that vehicle, must have been a warmaster, a command and control center. The slaves have gone mad."

All around them the reptoids swarmed over the ramparts. Many had dropped their weapons and howled, tearing at the nearest target with their claws and teeth. They did not limit their assaults to Bril'nilim's troopers, but attacked each other. It seemed less a military force than a swarm of insects pouring into the camp.

The two young Jedi moved into the flow of the reptoids. Anakin slashed right and left, cutting down Yuuzhan Vong soldiers as he went. With Jacen, he angled over to the right, clearing a path to several of Bril'nilim's troopers who had become trapped. With them in tow, they fought their way deeper into the refugee camp. Ahead of them from where the refugees had gathered, blaster fire sounded. Anakin could see errant bolts flying off in all directions, which suggested to him some confusion among the volunteers defending the refugees.

Above them the Impervious swooped and poured gouts of fire into the massed soldiery. Smaller blaster bolts thinned the ranks between the Jedi and the refugees. Jacen and Anakin darted forward, using their lightsabers to redirect blaster bolts away from the troopers coming with them and at reptoids. They broke into the refugee compound and fended off more reptoids, but those that had gotten through had already wrought havoc.

Chazrach, otherwise known as Reptoids, are like compactly built Trandoshans and were considered the most fearsome of the forces the Yuuzhan Vong deployed at Dantooine. They aren't particularly skilled fighters but make up for that with their sheer numbers and their horde-like mentality that keeps them coming with no regard for their own safety. The Chazrach normally cannot retreat, surrender, or stop fighting as long as they have a thrall herder to control them and guide them. Without that guidance, the Chazrach go crazy and attack anything in sight:

The battle begins late at night, with the Yuuzhan Vong battle force working its way through the forest several kilometers distant. Their column is mind-numbingly big, stretching 5 kilometers from front to back, and including troops, ground vehicles resembling armored domes atop bristlelike cilia, and two squadrons of coralskippers. Despite the plasma cannons on the vehicles, the actual troops on the ground are perhaps the most fearsome: short, reptilian creatures, similar to compactly built Trandoshans but implanted with surge-coral and completely pliant to the will of the Yuuzhan Vong. When the assault comes down to close-range combat, these creatures—known only as "reptoids" to the defenders—lead the way. These creatures die in droves, but it isn't enough. Although it takes five reptoids to kill one defender, the creatures just keep coming.

The shock troops of the Yuuzhan Vong are the chazrach, a reptilian species known to the New Republic only as "reptoids". Bred for untold generations as slaves, chazrach can learn to wield amphistaffs and stay in rough squads. Whether they were ever truly intelligent at some point in their history is unclear. Modern chazrach are mindless, howling warriors, controlled via small, calcified, domelike projections on their heads.

In battle, the Yuuzhan Vong use organic control vehicles known as thrall herders to direct the chazrach. While a control vehicle is present and operational, the chazrach under its control cannot retreat, or surrender, or stop fighting. When the control vehicle is gone, however, the chazrach go berserk, attacking anything in sight—including their Yuuzhan Vong masters and each other.

Chazrach are typically deployed in large squads to hunt down, flush out, or draw out their enemies. (Treat a unit of twelve chazrach as a Challenge Code C encounter.) In their many battles against the chazrach, many overconfident Jedi guardians charge against what they think are weak shock troopers—only to find more powerful foes waiting for them nearby.

Even a small army of chazrack is no real threat to a sufficiently trained warrior—or a Jedi. Their purpose is merely to impede the enemies of the Yuuzhan Vong. Frequently, when chazrach outnumber a foe by at least six to one, their sole purpose (assuming their opponent survives long enough) is to keep that foe busy while a Yuuzhan Vong readies a thud bug or razorbug—or draws close enough to dispatch the enemy himself. Any foe that lasts that long against so many chazrach, to the Yuuzhan Vong way of thinking, deserves death at the hands of a real warrior.

As part of a diversion to spring Jacen out of "house arrest", Anakin would engage with a friendly spar with Luke to draw the attention of a large crows and any passerby. Despite it being a friendly duel, Luke would transition from only using traditional and basic drills into a "wild, sparkling offense" which, to Mara's knowledge, would have been past anything Anakin would have faced before, Anakin defended himself perfectly fine:

To Mara's utter shock, Anakin spun around and dropped into a dueler's crouch. "That's right," he shouted. "This is what we came to do."

As Luke drew his lightsaber, Anakin smiled sardonically.

Mara backstepped. They were both out of their minds!

Luke stepped in, sweeping his lightsaber in a wide arc, slow and flashy. Anakin parried gracefully, locked blades, and held the pose.

[...]

Luke and Anakin moved through a half-dozen basic drills in order, trading the lead, dropping in and out of deep stances, rising into dramatic blocks. The upstaged Duros orator and her bodyguards backed away. One guard pulled out a comlink and turned his back. Mara didn't like that.

Abruptly, Luke broke out of the classic sequence. Making a surprise rush, he swung low. To parry in place would send Anakin off balance.

Instead, Anakin hopped back, locked blades, and stayed on his feet.

Mara saw pride and praise in Luke's slight, somber nod.

Anakin pressed the unchoreographed attack, following slashes with short, chopping strikes. Mara was struck by the intensity, the balance, the sheer accuracy of Anakin's use of the Force to anticipate Luke, pressing his attack beyond obvious blocks and parries. With Peace Brigade members already waiting for him outside of a turbolift, Anakin deflects the first two blaster bolts back at their shooters, cuts through a blaster rifle, and then cuts a stun baton in half and cuts one so close to its holder that he takes off a few fingers as well:

The door opened on the muzzle of six blasters. Anakin didn't think. He'd already slapped the "down" button—now he leapt into the midst of his enemies, blocking the first two blaster bolts with his weapons and sending them burning back through the press. He cut a blaster rifle in half and spun. Shouting in alarm, his attackers gave ground, trying to find a range where they could use their weapons. Two came at him with stun batons. He leapt and whirled, disarming one with a cut that took several fingers and another that sheared the baton in half.

Anakin engages three Yuuzhan Vong warriors, sweeping out one of their legs' in the beginning of the fight, kicking another away, and then engaging the third one in close combat. He would have to turn off his lightsaber in order to protect himself from an amphistaff attack, then reignite it after being choked by the amphistaff, and then reignite it to kill the warrior. Right after that, he then blocked a dozen blows from the other warrior while having trouble breathing. He would then feint unconsciousness to flank the warrior and finish him too:

Anakin sensed a blow from behind, and without thinking he ducked, did a behind-the-back block, and felt the sharp rap of an amphistaff. He dropped, swept his unseen attacker's feet, and tumbled away from yet a third attacker.

Only when he was back in the clear, preparing to meet the two, did he realize what had happened. He had sensed the Yuuzhan Vong behind him. Not as clearly as he might in the Force, but it had been good enough to save his life.

They came at him with a certain caution, which gave Anakin time to notice that Vua Rapuung had downed another warrior and was busily engaged with three more. That seemed to complete the count of warriors in the chamber, though others might run in from the large opening at the other end of the room.

One problem at a time.

One of the Yuuzhan Vong slashed at Anakin's left leg, while another did a whip-over toward his right shoulder. He leapt over the low attack and sliced his blade down the semirigid side of the high one. His blade hit the Yuuzhan Vong's fingers, and two of them came off. From there Anakin lunged toward his second foe's eye. The fellow jerked his head back and yanked his amphistaff up to parry. Anakin disengaged, avoiding the parry, and finished his blow right where a human sternum would be. The vonduun crab armor scorched but did not split, but the blow was strong. The Yuuzhan Vong was already off balance from avoiding the thrust to his eye, and now he sprawled heavily to the ground.

In those two or three seconds, Anakin's other opponent whipped the amphistaff in such a way that it coiled around Anakin's head and blade, the latter of which he had just drawn to an inner guard at his shoulder. Only turning the blade off kept him from being cut by his own weapon, but then there was nothing to prevent the amphistaff from closing around his neck like a garotte. Anakin reached reflexively for his throat, dropping his weapon. With a cry, the Yuuzhan Vong warrior turned his back, clearly intending to heave Anakin in a hard shoulder throw and snap his neck in the process. Anakin went with the throw and came down face-to-face with the warrior, his neck still intact.

Of course, he couldn't draw the tiniest sip of air. Almost contemptuously, the warrior lifted him from the floor, both hands still gripping the ends of the amphistaff.

The Yuuzhan Vong didn't see the lightsaber lift from the floor behind him, but he did notice when the purple blade appeared in his neck. He dropped Anakin, then.

Unfortunately, the amphistaff continued with the business of choking Anakin, and his second foe had found his feet. Anakin managed to get his blade in hand in time to block a dozen blows from the warrior's staff, before he felt his lights going out. His blood screamed for air and his legs felt like they were made of wood.

He fell away from the attack, dropped like a rag doll, and in the minute pause when his enemy thought he had really collapsed, he turned the fall into a roll that took him past the Yuuzhan Vong, where he cut both legs behind the knee.

With the help of Yuuzhan Vong warrior Vua Rapuung, Anakin defends against six Yuuzhan Vong warriors:

Another section of the wall had just gone transparent and permeable. Yuuzhan Vong warriors were pouring through it. Behind them Anakin could make out the yellow of Tahiri's hair.

"Tahiri!" he shouted, and threw himself at the wave of enemies.

Vua Rapuung howled. Anakin fought in grim silence. Their initial charges carried them into the midst of the warriors, but unlike the group they had just bested, these weren't scattered around a room, unprepared for a fight. Anakin and his companion were soon forced back toward the first vivarium by the six warriors who had engaged them.

Anakin spars against combat droids designed to act like Yuuzhan Vong warriors. Anakin would fight without using the Force, foregoing any precognitive abilities to learn the needed distance to dodge an amphistaff's attacks:

Anakin blew out another breath and nodded at the droids.

"Begin sequence one," he said.

The droids flashed into motion, their spindly frames moving with eye-daunting speed, two flanking him on either side, one driving straight toward him. Anakin backpedaled and parried, dropped, and swept the legs out from under the droid on his right. The other two were attacking, one staff spearing at his neck, the other gone suddenly flexible, flicking around his rising parry toward his back. Anakin stepped forward a centimeter and felt the wind from the vicious whip-over as it came up short of his spine.

That's it, he thought. I'm learning the range. The smallest movement possible to prevent the attack from landing is the best.

He dropped the high parry into a riposte. The droid, suddenly too close to him, tried to retreat but stopped instantly, deactivated when Anakin's weapon touched its torso.

The downed droid was back up by then, and Anakin found himself circling, holding them at the very outside of his guard and in his field of vision. That kept them off him, and he could probably do that forever. He wouldn't win the fight that way, though, so he gave them a rhythm to follow and let them try to break it.

One of the staffs suddenly spit a stream of liquid at him. He twisted his body to avoid it, again allowing only a centimeter for the miss. At the same moment, the other droid broke the tempo and leapt in deep.

Anakin parried, but the staff wrapped around his wrist. He felt a distinct and painful electric shock. The other droid was an instant behind, leveling a blow at Anakin's skull.

Somewhere a blaster shrieked, and the droid suddenly didn't have a weapon—or the arm that held it.

Anakin duels and defeats the Yuuzhan Vong Shok Choka in single combat, the best warrior out of a large group that invaded the Yag'Dhul system. It was revealed that Anakin purposely set up events in the duel to allow Anakin the chance to bound up and escape in an instant with Corran Horn and Tahiri Veila, and Corran said he thought Anakin was fighting "sloppy":

Shok Choka was big, even for a Yuuzhan Vong warrior. Each ear had three large chevrons cut from it, and a mounded scar ran from his chin, sliced through his lips, and continued along the ridge of his skull. He held his amphistaff behind his back, the hand grasping it a little lower than his waist. He locked his amber gaze on Anakin's ice-blue eyes. His knees were bent, and though he was perfectly still, he somehow projected corybantic motion.

Anakin cut his lightsaber off and held it loosely at his side. He began to circle the warrior slowly in a relaxed, almost contemptuous manner. Calm flowed through him. Shok Choka followed him with his predator gaze.

Anakin stopped, smiled faintly, then stepped into the warrior's range.

The Yuuzhan Vong moved almost faster than vision could process, the rigid amphistaff chopping down. Anakin's saber burred on, and he raised it in a wide, high block. Choka, anticipating that, arrested the slash and instead lunged in to spear Anakin in the throat. Anakin retreated, dropped his parry, again low and wide, as if he were defending for two people instead of one. That placed Choka's weapon so far out of line he couldn't make the third parry, but instead had to flip back toward Anakin and Tahiri. His still-alive blade, slashing wildly, scored a meter-long cut through the bulkhead that only just missed Corran.

Stamping and howling, Shok Choka came on. Anakin blocked a powerful blow that carried his blade into the bulkhead for a second time in a long, elliptical slash. He ducked a vicious jab that spanged into the wall and rolled forward, past Shok Choka's stamping feet and back out into the center of the room. Even as he stood, the warrior was renewing the attack.

Now, suddenly, Anakin tightened his defense, so that rather than pushing the Yuuzhan Vong's blows as far away from him as he could, they were missing him by centimeters. Still smiling, he fell into the counterrhythm of the dance, the amphistaff whipping and whirling, spearing and slashing.

The warrior suddenly dropped and swept Anakin's feet from under him, something the young Jedi hadn't seen coming at all. He thudded to the floor awkwardly and threw his blade up to catch the inevitable downward blow, but the staff whipped around and cut his shoulder, the deadly poisonous head slapping against the floor centimeters from his arm. Anakin caught the amphistaff with his left hand and with his right, lifting from a prostrate position, drove his weapon through the knee joint of Shok Choka's armor. The warrior grunted and aimed a powerful punch with his left fist toward Anakin's head, but Anakin wasn't there. Releasing the amphistaff, ignoring the cut in his hand grabbing it had caused, he bounded up and was suddenly standing above the warrior, who had overcommitted to the punch. In the split second while Shok Choka decided whether to tumble forward or attempt to regain his balance, Anakin cut his head off.

Anakin, suffering from a very likely broken rib and having it hurt when he breathes, defeats a Yuuzhan Vong warrior in single combat, mainly through the use of martial arts:

The Yuuzhan Vong tried to pin Anakin against the wall, changing his amphistaff into ship form and flicking the fanged head at the Jedi's eyes. It was a tired tactic, almost disrespectful. Anakin feigned a stumble and dropped into a crouch, catching the attack on his lightsaber's fiery blade.

The serpent recoiled. Anakin posted his free hand, whipped his feet around and trapped the Yuuzhan Vong's knees, scissored his legs. The warrior yelled and hit the floor like a bag of rocks. The amphistaff struck again. Anakin blocked, flicked the thing away, brought his own blade down across the enemy's throat.

Anakin defeats a low-level Yuuzhan Vong warrior in a quick series of moves:

Anakin stepped out of the alley and heard an amphistaff hiss. He caught the snakish head on his lightsaber, then spun around, driving a back kick into his attacker's midsection and bringing his molten blade around in a neck-high sweep. The impostor collapsed, head tumbling from his shoulders.

Right after being stabbed by an amphistaff, Anakin defeats another Yuuzhan Vong warrior by tripping him up and slashing at his exposed throat:

Anakin shunted it aside, used his Jedi training to prevent his suffering from crippling him. He was injured, but not mortally so. One of Jaina's attackers spun to attack, changing his amphistaff to whip form in midswing.

Anakin batted the fanged head aside, leapt forward, feigned a slash. The impostor tried to step inside—had to try. Anakin slipped a foot behind his foe's heel and swept the leg. The Yuuzhan Vong went down, rolled, then opened his own throat on Anakin's downturned lightsaber.

Intelligence

Anakin was “prodigiously talented” in the Force and gifted as a pilot and mechanic:

Anakin Solo inherited much from his grandfather, Anakin Skywalker. Aside from the name, he was also prodigiously talented in the Force, as a pilot, and as a mechanic.

By the age of three, Anakin could dismantle and reassemble his nanny droids:

While he lagged slightly behind in reading and verbal skills, he excelled at mathematics and engineering like his grandfather before him. By the age of three he could dismantle and reassemble his nanny droids.

Anakin would often sit by himself, focused in his little world. He rarely spoke, but he was undeniably bright. Even as a toddler, he had the mechanical aptitude to disassemble and modify his nanny droids.

Anakin was taking apart and reassembling computers at the age of five:

As Anakin grew older, his Force powers became more evident. His gift for mechanics was revealed when he took apart and reassembled computers at the age of five.

At 14, Anakin had built a computer program to help analyze the usage of data in the Jedi's library:

The brown-haired youth smiled. "To help plan missions in the future, I created a computer program to analyze the usage of our data library. By tracking the files accessed after assignments were made, we'd learn what kind of information the Jedi needed to complete their missions. In the future we could add those files to the mission assignments, saving some time. It would be on the data cards, and their only need from that point on would be for updates."

Anakin spent two weeks fixing up a random R7 droid to make it as capable and dependable as R2-D2:

He'd picked up the early model R7 droid, most advanced of all the astromechs, on a hunch. R7 droids were notorious for working poorly with any fighter but an E-wing, and it had taken Anakin five attempts and two weeks of tinkering, but now his backseater was as sleek and dependable as his uncle's R2, but fully armored and capable of multitasking at blinding speed.

During his time on the Errant Venture, Anakin built three training droids from spare parts in the span of a few weeks. He programmed them to fight like Yuuzhan Vong warriors and built for them amphistaffs that acted and moved just like the real Vong weapon, giving off a slight shock when they touched him and spitting out a dye that was supposed to act as amphistaff poison. Anakin also programmed the droids to halt their strikes the second it touched his skin and built a separate "lightsaber" to spar against them, which used a blade-shaped force field that shut down the droids when the "lightsaber" made contact with the droid:

A motley trio of droids regarded him with unblinking eyes. Even the most casual observer could see they had been cobbled together from spare parts, though the central chassis of each was that of a rather common worker drone. They did not look particularly dangerous, until one examined what they held in their hands—wicked-looking staffs, sharp on one end, spoon-shaped on the other. They looked remarkably like snakes, an impression enhanced by the fact that they undulated now and then.

[...]

"Those are training droids. They wouldn't have hurt me."

"Oh no? Are those training amphistaffs they're holding? If he'd hit you with it . . ."

"He wouldn't have. They're programmed to arrest their blows the second the staff touches my skin. And yes, they are training amphistaffs. They aren't real."

Corran's eyes widened in surprise. "How did you manage that? Why didn't your lightsaber cut through them?"

"It's not a lightsaber."

Corran's expression was almost worth the damage to the droid.

"It's just a blade-shaped force field, a weak one," Anakin explained. "Wouldn't cut anything. The things my droids have act like amphistaffs and move like them, but they just spit dye and deliver a shock when they hit. They only weigh a kilogram or so."

[...]

Anakin deactivated the "weapon" and returned it to the cabinet. "Duelist elites don't move like Yuuzhan Vong warriors. The droids I built do."

Anakin easily overrides the code of a police speeder bike:

The two jumped into the rusty orange vehicle. It had an old-fashioned computer input, and it took Anakin only a few seconds to slice into the security system. Just as a mob of officers burst onto the street, he bypassed the code and started the speeder.
