Head to the north end of Whangapoua beach, cross the stream and begin a 30-40 minute walk to the picturesque and untouched coast line of New Chums, also known as Wainuiototo Bay.

Cathedral Cove, Coromandel

Cathedral Cove

Cathedral Cove is a must do when you are visiting the Coromandel. This hidden bay was featured in the movie ‘The Chronicles Of Narnia’. A stunning coastal walk with breath-taking Coromandel scenery. Accessible only on foot, boat, or kayak.

The marine reserve (Te Whanganui-A-Hei), is 50-minute drive from Coromandel Luxury Escapes and is less than 5 minute drive from Hahei.

Right next door is Hahei, a small coastal town which has a great brewery, The Pour House - the perfect spot to refuel after visiting Cathedral Cove or Hahei Beach.

Hot Water Beach, Coromandel New Zealand

Hot Water Beach

Within two hours either side of low tide, you can dig your own natural spa right on the shore of the beach! Beware the water is hotter than you think, the temperature can be a hot as hot as 147 degrees, so try and dig your hole as close to the shore line as you can to provide the perfect temperature balance.

If you forget to take your own spade you can hire one from the local shop. Hot Water Beach is one of our favourite activities in cooler months.

Hot Water Beach is a 50-minute drive, from Coromandel Luxury Escapes and a 10-minute drive from Cathedral Cove.

 
The Pinnacles walk, Coromandel

Pinnacles

Not for fainted hearted if you’re embarking on this walk in one day. A eight hour round trip, or can be done as an overnight stay in one of the Pinnacles Huts.

It’ll be well worth the walk when you reach the top and see the spectacular views of The Coromandel Peninsula.
