Lightning Strikes the Eiffel Tower: My Hot Girl Summer 2022

Have you ever seen lightning strike the Eiffel Tower? Such a random topic to think about, but this topic struck me randomly in my heart.

On our girls’ trip to Europe, one of the destinations we chose was Paris, France. The Eiffel Tower was on our bucket list, so we made sure we planned time to enjoy the sight. To see our full experience, check out Michelle’s vlog here!

Hot Girl Summer 2022: Paris Here We Are!

Outside Cafe De Fleur

We took the Eurostar from London to Paris, then grabbed a taxi to our Air BnB. Immediately, we got settled in and went to sleep. We then woke up early and headed to Cafe de Flore before starting our full day at the Louvre.

Once we finished our activities, we went back to our Air Bnb to take a nap before dinner. A few hours later, I woke up, and the girls were getting ready. I felt like death from not having enough sleep the past 4 days, so I decided to skip dinner.

A few hours later, I woke up to a text from the girls saying they were on their way back. When they arrived, they asked if I wanted to go with them to explore and see the Eiffel Tower. I was feeling better at the time, so I agreed to go.

Nightfall & Potential Storm

Outside was gloomy and it felt a bit muggy. We ended up at Pont de Alexandre III and exited the Uber to walk around. We took in everything as it was such a sight to see. You had La Seine under us; as we looked out to the Eiffel Tower.

Off in the distance, I saw a flash of light in the sky. Unsure if it was camera flash, I didn’t think anything. Till I saw lightning blots and then faintly, thunder rumbled. It slowly started to come closer, as the thunder got louder, but none of us thought to leave.

We decided to stay till 10 pm since the Eiffel Tower lights up once the sun sets. Also, at every top of the hour for 5 minutes it illuminates, and its beacon shines. At this point in the night, the lightning and thunder seemed to have stopped. So we continued taking pictures and videos.

At 9:57 pm I decided to “get in position” and start filming.

The Main Event: Lightning Strikes

Eleven seconds into filming, a huge burst of light lit up the sky! A HUGE lightning bolt came down and struck the top of the Eiffel Tower at least three times! I went silent as everyone around me gasped in surprise.

Then, a massive crash of thunder followed.

Lightning Strikes the Eiffel Tower

I was stunned and frozen in shock. Not once did it cross my mind that lightning would strike the Eiffel Tower; let alone when I was filming.

To top it off; I just caught all of that on video.

Fun fact: Lightning strikes the Eiffel Tower on average 10 times a year. To be able to witness this event on my first full night in Paris… I mean what are the odds [I’ll let you numbers people calculate that for me].

A few minutes later the rain started to come down, and we ran to find cover under the trees.

In that moment, I was taking everything in. For those of you who haven’t had a chance to get to know me yet; I am a huge lover of rain and stormy weather. While most people may not enjoy it, I love stormy days. It’s just who I am.

Paris in the Rain Moment

Prior to the trip, as much as Paris has a huge amount of amazing architecture, museums, and history behind it; it wasn’t my top location to go to.

However, I did enjoy a song by Lauv called “Paris in the Rain” and I started to listen to it consistently again. It did trigger my dreams of having an actual moment in the rain in Paris. The idea of it being the City of Love plus a bit of rainy weather… the fastest way to my heart.

Experiencing lightning, thunder, and rain and watching lightning strike the Eiffel Tower: my heart was stolen. I probably looked like the heart eye emoji all night. I couldn’t have asked for a better first night, and a great way to feed my fire inside.

Till the next adventure!

Kisses, Ky
