On October 5th, 2021, TikToker[1] @tr1nax posted a video of her daughter telling a joke with the setup, "Why are chickens so funny?" the punchline being, "Because," in the cadence of a chicken, garnering over 917,000 views in three months (shown below).

The original sound for @tr1nax's video became popular over the following months, often used in wholesome videos featuring pets, children and chickens. For example, on November 25th, TikToker[2] @roccothegreatdane posted a video that gained over 2.2 million views in two months (shown below, left). On January 5th, TikToker[3] @yeahthegrays posted a video showing their son holding a chicken with the audio over it, garnering over 56 million views in a day (shown below, right). The @barstoolsports TikTok[4] page reposted the video that day, garnering over 10.7 million views in a day. On January 6th, Dexerto[5] published an article about it.
