i just recieved the book grace a memoir in the mail. a book by and about grace coddington, the creative director of vogue . i love stories that share the life of great artist’s, actors, writers, divulging their struggles lessons learned and journey to becoming an icon.
i have not yet read the book but what i do know about her is that she started out as a young lady who would wait for vogue to arrive in the mail once a month, then applied to a modeling competition and ended up on the pages of magazine’s as a model. she was then in a horrible car accident and stopped modeling to become a junior editor at british vogue then got the position as a photo editor. she moved to the us to become creative director at calvin klein and in 1988 began her career at american vogue where she remains. coddington is one of the most influential fashion editors of our time, she not only puts the clothes together on many of vogues pages but she creates the stories and characters on the pages that give the clothing meaning . below are SOME of the images i have collected over time where coddington is the editor. these are a few of the countless one’s i have saved that i really admire. it would take 3 weeks to post all my favorites.
i am very excited to read the book on grace, i suggest you read it too, especially if you have any interest in working as a stylist, fashion editor, creative director, photographer, etc. you can purchase it here. i have heard great reviews now it is my turn to read.. i will let you know how it is.
