Depp Wins, Eminem Moons MTV Movie Awards

The Pirates star claims his prize, while the rapper drops trou at the ceremony

Sure, Johnny Depp was named favorite actor, but the moment everybody at Saturday’s MTV Movie Awards is still talking about came when Eminem got cheeky and mooned the audience while he was singing with D12.

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King was named best film and was honored for best action sequence for the battle of Gondor, while the best onscreen kiss went to a three-way smooch between Carmen Electra, Owen Wilson and Amy Smart for Starsky and Hutch.

Electra – the only one of the three in attendance – collected the award from Snoop Dogg and Paris Hilton, and said: “Usually when people win this award they kiss someone, but Amy’s not here and Owen’s not here. So I don’t know.”

Snoop Dogg offered his cheek. “That’s it?” said Electra, who then briefly locked lips with Hilton.

“It was very sweet and innocent,” Electra assured reporters when talking backstage about the kiss. “There was no tongue. At least I had good breath.”

With a drink in hand, Johnny Depp won best male performance for Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, while Jack Black won best comedy performance for School of Rock – and said he would “party hardy” with the voters.

Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx presented the first award, to Uma Thurman for best female performance – in director Quentin Tarentino’s Kill Bill – Vol. 1.

“Quentin spent many years writing this for me and wants to be honored as if he were dead tonight,” Thurman told the crowd, as quoted by the Associated Press. “We don’t have time, so I’ll have to honor you as if you were living. Thank you, Quentin.”

The film also earned the best fight prize and another, for best villain, thanks to Lucy Liu’s head-chopping assassin role.

The evening’s hostess, Mean Girls star Lindsay Lohan won the breakthrough female honor for Freaky Friday, while X2: X-Men United star Shawn Ashmore was named breakthrough male. Seann William Scott’s awkward stances in American Wedding earned him the best dancing sequence prize.

Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler, after being given the prized popcorn bucket for the best onscreen team, thanked the entire state of Hawaii, where they filmed their 50 First Dates.

MTV will broadcast a cleaned-up version of the ceremony on Thursday.
