Like everywhere in Japan, Okinawa with kids is so easy as the Japanese make everything convenient and easily accessible for kids and their parents. Here’s Grobblers words on Okinawa with kids:
At the time, I was absolutely into any and all sea creatures so going to Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium was literally a dream come true. The Whale Sharks, which the aquarium is famous for, were damn magnificent, but the aquarium also had many other great beasts of the sea that I eww’ed and ahh’ed over. Despite my obsession with sea creatures, I was and have never been a fan of the obligatory dolphin show, yet managed to watch the entire show at the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium. The place is gigungus (that’s a mixture of gigantic and humungus) and it’s nice walking around the whole property. You can have a picnic outside and plenty of places to sit down and chillax . The only downside was that it was a holiday in Japan when we went and there were quite some people there. The souvenir shop was ridiculous, I’ve never seen so many kids in a shop at one time in my entire short life. If you’re going to Okinawa with kids, the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium should be first on your list.
Although my Dad wasn’t that excited about Okinawa, the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium made it brilliant for me, so much so that I insisted on going back the next day and it was just as good the second time around. If you’re into sea creatures, it’s worth going to Okinawa just to see the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium. I actually wanted to go back a 3rd day but was given the cold shoulder by both my Mum and Dad.
Other than that we just did the usual things in Okinawa with kids, went to some beaches, checked out the underwater observatory at Busena Marine Park, that was rather ordinary although I did get to see a few fish so I gave that a 10/10. The beach we went to, near the Busena Marine Park, wasn’t that great, plus it was a bit overcast and rainy that day, which always puts a bit of a dampener on things. Like my Dad said, Okinawa isn’t really about adventure and play zones and all that type of kids stuff, so you’re gonna be dependant somewhat in your mum and dad to keep you entertained.
