| Description | Blue and grey striped Nazi political prisoner uniform jacket. Jacket has three pockets: one on the front, bottom, left side; one on the front, bottom, right side; and one on the front, top, right side. Both of the bottom pockets are partially torn off of the jacket. Top right pocket is sewn closed and has a red, cloth, triangle (pointing downward) adhered to it. Beneath the triangle is a white rectangle with faded black numbers stamped on it. Inside of the collar has a loop for hanging. |

This jacket was originally acquired by Jim Webb's brother who served in the armed forces during WWII. After the War, he obtained a pass to venture to Eastern Germany where he acquired a number of prisoner uniforms. Jim took ownership of these items after his brother passed, and donated a jacket, pants, and cap to the Museum. Based on geography, it is likely that this jacket came from Sachsenhausen concentration camp. The red patch indicates the jacket was worn by a political prisoner. There also appears to be two sets of numbers on the white patch beneath the triangle, indicating the jacket may have been worn by two prisoners. |
