I’ve wanted to try a Greek vase project for a while, and having it in a Roll and Draw format (by DesignEdu on Teachers Pay Teachers) was a great fit for a lighter intro project.

My students really enjoyed this, and we were all happy to start and finish a new project in 2-3 weeks.

We watched a short animated video about Greek vases and about the major contributions Greeks made to society.

We used the Roll and Draw guides as a starting point, but I was excited to see that the 4th grade artists added so many original details.

The students knew from our research that traditional Ancient Greek vases were black and red but they could add any colors they wanted to their designs.

I’m keeping this in mind as a strong end of year project for the future.
