Marshall Faulk asked us if Alex Smith will prove his worth vs. the Broncos

Pro Football Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk tweeted us about Alex Smith's Week 2 game against the Denver Broncos.

He certainly didn't prove it last week. Alex Smith wasn't the only reason the Chiefs lost last week but he certainly wasn't part of the solution. It was easier to look past Smith's play when he was being paid $7.5 million. Now that he has a $75 million contract, the focus obviously lands on him more.

I do think Smith will have a much better game against the Broncos. At least statistically. I can see him putting up over 250 yards and a couple of touchdowns. Last week's game was the obvious outlier with him during his time in Kansas City so I don't expect to see three-interception games very often.

What I can really see happen this year, as 610 Sports' Danny Parkins has pointed out before, is Smith having a career year statistically but seeing his winning percentage drop. The more Smith throws the ball and the more yards he accumulates, the more likely it is the Chiefs are playing from behind and losing games.

He will prove his worth with bigger numbers this year but, unfortunately for Chiefs fans, I'm not sure that's reflected in the final record given the opponents this season.
