Ingredients

12 Servings

½

cup cup (1 stick) unsalted butter

¼

cup cup extra-virgin olive oil

2

cloves garlic cloves, peeled, crushed

Large handful of fresh flat-leaf parsley leaves, finely chopped

1

Kosher salt

Finely grated Parmesan

Preparation

  1. Instructions

    Step 1

  • The garlic bread was amazing! it did not take many steps and the ingredients were very simple and can be found in every household. My mother loved it so much that she started helping me make it. But the garlic cloves were hard to find, especially since I don't like them. However, I loved the recipe and my family asked for more! Great Work BA. Nasri Marji

  • It is wonderful, I used a sourdough bread, and I slit it diagonally, then again so there were a bunch of diamond shapes, then I used a brush and brushed all the side of the bread, then I sprinkled every piece of bread with Parmesan cheese. It was delicious. I am now responsible to bring the garlic bread to any other gatherings.

  • Perfect, though I doubled the garlic and grated it instead of smashing. Had no issues with burning.

  • when i ate garlic bread in Rome, it was just olive oil and garlic. no parm, no parsley, no butter. it was delightful. this is a riff on a classic, but i'd hardly call it "classic." i happen to like the additions BA's incorporated, so i'll give this a try, with some of the reviewers' warnings as to time in the oven.

  • I never understand recipes for garlic bread that melts butter that will go into the oven. Wouldn't the garlic cook in the oven and less parsley and a little oregano. I'll just mix these ingredients with room temp butter and put in on the bread.

  • Meh. Followed the directions and it came out like the picture, but there was too little garlic bite for me (nicely poaching it in butter mellowed it too much), and far too much greenery. Next time, I'll keep the baguette and butter but won't cook the garlic, add much more salt, and will lose the parsley -- to be replaced by dried oregano from my garden or the spice rack. (NB: Heating at 450°F for 12 minutes worked fine; brown but not fire alarm.)

  • I baked this for less than the recommended amount of time, at the correct heat. The bread completely burned to a crisp, with the fire alarm and the WHOLE deal. I have a fairly standard oven, so this was a surprise for me. So I recommend that ü reduce the heat and monitor your oven closely. To ensure perfectly golden brown delicious garlic bread. Will be trying again, with these modifications. BE CAREFUL!
