So you think you’re pret-tay, pret-tay funny, don’t you?

Our request yesterday for an amusing caption for this photo of Sen. John Kerry bear-hugging Patriots coach Bill Belichick on the sidelines before the AFC semifinal at Gillette Stadium was met with a few funnies.

We’re partial to one sent in via Twitter by political strategist ?@Jake1839, who imagined the secretary of state-in-waiting whispering into BB’s ear, “I’m gonna need defense advice when I get to Washington.”

As in recruiting Rob Ninkovich to disarm our enemies? Did you see him on Sunday??? And Belichick does train his guys to be prepared for the unknown like Navy SEALS

Then there was this ditty, which evoked guffaws: “When you’re done here, will you be my press secretary?” asks Kerry of Mr. It Is What It Is. Thanks, Chris Huban. That was Monday morning’s big LOL.

Runners up include, “Good luck to you and Greg Brady,” submitted on our Web page by HomeytheClown. (That has a ring of truth, no?) And Linda Trexler’s “John, I said we use Snuggle.”

A mere caption was child’s play to Patrick Lawlor of Dorchester, so he wrote up a “conversation” between the senior senator and his hoodie-wearing fellow Nantucket summer res — if they were more, shall we say, street. Kerry: “What up trouble?”

Belichick: “Nuttin my man. You know how it is.”

Kerry: “This is our house, ahight?”

Belichick: “You know it. I gotch you!”

Now, you’re probably wondering what prizes we have to reward your caption creativity. … How ’bout a hug?
