Former Miss World Rosanna Davison has announced she is pregnant with twin boys, after welcoming a daughter via surrogacy.

The 35-year-old, from Dublin, who is the daughter of music legend Chris De Burgh, has been open with her 191,000 Instagram followers about her fertility struggles, and welcomed a daughter last November via surrogate after doctors said it was her best option to fulfilling her desire of becoming a parent.

Announcing her news on Instagram, she said she and husband Wes Quirke are 'beyond overjoyed', writing: 'We’re absolutely thrilled to complete our family and for our daughter Sophia to have two siblings so close in age to her.'

She went on to explain how she had fallen pregnant after suffering fourteen pregnancy losses in the last few years, adding: 'We found out I was pregnant after the first month of lockdown when I was far more physically relaxed than I’ve been in years and enjoying the slow pace of family life at home, despite the anxiety and sadness in the outside world. So perhaps that time out from the stress of busy everyday life made all the difference.'

Sharing snapshots of her blossoming bump online, Rosanna wrote: 'We have some news! Wes and I are beyond overjoyed to announce that we’re expecting identical twin boys this November.'

She continued: 'As I’ve spoken openly about this year, we struggled with fourteen pregnancy losses over the past few years and a challenging fertility journey before finally welcoming Sophia last November by gestational surrogate.

'I was told that I would probably never be able to carry my own baby due to a suspected immune system dysfunction, which numerous different medical treatments failed to rectify.

'So for this to just happen naturally, and to have twins too by complete chance, is an absolute dream come true for us.'

She went on: 'My doctor can’t offer a medical explanation for why I have been able to sustain this pregnancy and it will probably always remain one of life’s mysteries.'

'We still can’t quite believe it ourselves and it’s taken a long time to properly process it and feel ready to share the news. As if 2020 hasn’t already been packed with enough surprises.'

She finished her caption by willing her followers to 'never give up hope', saying: 'Fertility miracles may take some time, but they really can happen in the most unexpected and magical ways.

'As always, sending so much love to those of you still on your baby journey. Never give up hope.'

In November last year, Rosanna announced she and her husband Will had welcomed a baby girl by surrogate after a series of miscarriages that medical professionals were unable to explain.

Alongside a photograph of herself holding newly-born Sophia Rose Quirke, she posted: 'And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true.

'Today, November 21st 2019 at 11.57am, our beautiful and healthy daughter Sophia Rose Quirke arrived safely into the world weighing 6lbs 8oz... she’s absolutely perfect.

'We’re completely overwhelmed with love and gratitude for our incredible gestational surrogate, who has given us the greatest gift of all and made our family dream a reality #oursurrogacyjourney'

WHAT IS GESTATIONAL SURROGACY?

In gestational surrogacy, the child is not biologically related to the surrogate mother, who is often referred to as a gestational carrier.

Instead, the embryo is created via in vitro fertilization (IVF), using the eggs and sperm of the intended parents or donors, and is then transferred to the surrogate

Sophia was born via a gestational surrogate, which means the surrogate carries an embryo created using the parents' egg and sperm, but is not genetically related to the baby.

The former Miss World was told that surrogacy abroad would be the best option for fulfilling their desire of becoming parents.

It was suggested that an over-active immune system, had been the cause of her body rejecting embryos.

Rosanna and Wesley married in 2014, a year after getting engaged abroad with a ring estimated to cost around £32,000.

In a 2015 interview with VIP magazine, the new mother-of-one revealed hopes to start having children after promotions for her book 'Eat Yourself Beautiful' ended.

She received a stream of comments from fans and celebrities congratulating her on the birth of Sophia, as many revealed they had emotionally followed her journey to becoming a first time parent.

'I'm so filled with all the emotions for you guys. What a journey. You are the best parents ever already, I just know it. Huge congratulations to you all,' wrote one.
