Great news for all – the UK will be getting its second ever gay dating show, I Kissed A Girl, a follow up to the much-loved BBC series I Kissed A Boy. It's giving serious Katy Perry vibes.

Pop legend Danni Minogue will return to play matchmaker for a group of queer women, after playing the same role on I Kissed A Boy, which is getting all the love right now as its episodes air on the BBC – the basic premise is that each man on the show is pre-matched at the beginning of the show, and each contestant kisses their “match” before then getting to know each other better.

I Kissed A Girl will follow the same premise, but with gay women at the forefront. In a statement, the BBC has promised that the show will bring “another fresh perspective on the LGBTQIA+ dating space”, and the show's plot synopsis reads as follows: “I Kissed A Girl will serve drama, smash stereotypes and promise more twists and turns than ever.”

We are 100% here for it all.

Danni has expressed her excitement at continuing to play matchmaker for another series.

“After showing love truly is for everyone with I Kissed A Boy, I am thrilled to have the chance to be Cupid again for girls in this second series," she said. "I’m so excited to see if we can find more connections, chemistry and hopefully love sealed with a kiss – here come the girls!”

The exciting development was announced at the end of the latest episode of I Kissed A Boy, giving details for how women can enter – which can also be found here – and Danni filmed her reaction on her Instagram stories.

She could barely contain her glee: “Yasss! See you there for series two!”

Another replied: “your so incredible, where do i apply”, while another posted: “Amazing news I can't wait @danniiminogue when is the first episode”.

I Kissed A Boy has delivered representation for so many people's dating experiences, being the first ever UK dating show for the queer community. One fan posted on Danni's announcement: “have Loved this Series so much! And it’s about time, something like this was aired.”

We couldn't agree more.

I Kissed A Boy is available to watch on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer.
