Raisin needs your love

Hi ! my name is Colleen and I am starting a GoFundme for my dear friend Olivia’s dog Raisin. Raisin is a 4.5lb, 3-year-old rescue chihuahua from Texas with the most spunky and loving personality, contrary to what most chihuahuas are known for. Raisin kisses everyone she meets, can make you laugh with her big personality, and can stand up to dogs 6x her size. Raisin is Queen of the dog park and never fails to put a smile on a stranger's face. On June 28, Raisin had her first seizure, followed by 2 more which resulted in her being taken to the Emergency Vet Hospital where she stayed overnight in the ICU and had multiple tests done. Unfortunately, no known cause was found, we were told an MRI wasn't needed and neurologist ruled it as idiopathic epilepsy, which is apparently "common" in chihuahuas so Raisin was sent home on anti-seizure medication. Two weeks later, Raisin suddenly lost her hearing and eyesight which resulted in a 4 night ICU stay and a MRI and a spinal tap were performed. The MRI showed Raisin had hydrocephalus and meningitis and she was diagnosed with Meningoencephalitis of unknown origin . Raisin was started on high-dose steroids, immunosuppressants and continuing anti-seizure medications. Four days after being discharged from the ICU, Raisin was unable to walk, started limping, and started to regress rather than improve which resulted in another trip to the neurologist. After vouching for Raisin, she was started on two antibiotics. Raisin has a very long road of recovery and we pray daily that she improves. As you can imagine this has been very emotionally and financially straining for Olivia, who is currently a full-time Physician Assistant student living alone. Raisin is not only what I look forward to at the end of the day, but my motivation to get outside, my partner in crime to errands done, my adventure buddy, but shes my fur daughter.
