King Charles and Queen Camila Are Among the “Few” Visitors Who Have Reportedly Seen Kate Middleton

Kate Middleton's condition is covered in a “shroud of secrecy," according to royal sources.

Even before the conspiracy theories began, both royal-watchers and the press have had a field day speculating about what exactly is going on with Kate Middleton. Is she still in the hospital? Is she hiding out at home? Is she staying with a family member? Why hasn’t she been seen more?

A report in US Weekly claims that almost no one knows what’s actually going on behind the scenes — and that she’s only had “a few” visitors, two of whom include King Charles III and his wife, Queen Camilla. “A few of Kate’s senior staffers haven’t been able to see or speak to her, and they didn’t even know about the surgery until it was announced, so it’s caught them off guard,” an inside source told the magazine. “Only a few people know what’s really going on, and they’re tight-lipped,” the source continued.

US Weekly also claims the princess’s condition is currently in a “shroud of secrecy” and that people in her inner circle are confused and concerned about what’s really going on. Though Kate reportedly understands why people — both her inner circle and the world at large — are so worried, she’s reportedly blowing off the rumors and focusing on her own healing while trying to hold onto some privacy.

“Kate’s said she feels she’s entitled to heal and recuperate without all of this frenzied speculation,” a source told the publication. “Neither Kate nor William think her medical records should be for public consumption.”

The source also told the magazine that the couple’s decision to release the edited photo on Mother’s Day was a “collective decision“ to reassure fans that she was doing OK, to “thank members of the public for all the support and at the same time put some of those ridiculous conspiracy rumors to rest,” per US Weekly.

The magazine claims her mother has been helping Kate a lot, including driving her to appointments and stocking up on necessities like books and magazines to keep her occupied while she recuperates. Kate is reportedly "praying the fuss dies down as soon as possible.”

Another source told Harper's Bazaar that the princess has been "doing well, all things considered" and was “smiling, upbeat, and enjoying being out" when she was spotted in the car with William a few days ago.

William attended last night's Diana Award ceremony on his own and mentioned his wife briefly in passing.
