Michael C. Hall, the actor who played the lead role of Dexter Morgan in the hit television series "Dexter", has expressed his willingness to participate in the upcoming spinoffs of the show. In a recent interview with ComicBook, Hall shared his thoughts on the possibility of joining one of the upcoming spinoffs.

The show's revival, Dexter: New Blood, was canceled by Showtime in February, despite the fact that the series had an average of 8 million viewers over its 10 episodes. Clyde Phillips, the showrunner of New Blood, had previously expressed his willingness to return to the show if he was asked by the network.

Hall, on the other hand, stated that he was not interested in playing a younger version of his character, but was open to the idea of participating in a spinoff. "I don't think it's a good idea for me to play a young Dexter at this point [laughs]," he said.

"I think that ship sailed even before we started shooting the [original] series, but I'm open to the possibility. It's all a bit theoretical at the moment, but I'm curious to see what they come up with."

The projects are in the early stages

While there is little information available about the upcoming spinoffs, it has been reported that one of them will focus on Dexter's "origins" and his early days as the Bay Harbor Butcher.

According to sources, the project is still in its early stages of development, and the casting of the lead role is crucial. However, if Hall were to be involved, it could lead to a project that blends both the past and present of the character in a compelling way.

Phillips, who had expressed his desire to continue working on the New Blood series, also stated that he would be willing to return to the show if Showtime were to greenlight a second season. "If they called me and said, 'We want to do a second season and we want you to write it,' I would drop everything I'm doing and dive right in. I'd love to do it, but it really depends on Showtime," he said.
