Never been a huge Kuja fan but I did quite enjoy him in Dissidia.

He's a good antagonist ....

Ahh kuja <3 FFIX was my first FF game. I remember I used to finish it and start it again over and over lol. Lost count of how many times I have played it now

Kuja to me is tragic. I think he is a good example of what can happen in parallel real life is someone doesn't have a real childhood, or has been abused etc. Kuja not having an actual childhood and therefore no real memories cuts out the physical and leave him as an instant hollow shell that people would become in real life. With that in mind it leaves open the fact that he is redeemable even through his actions. I loved it at the end when he finally understand who and what he is and makes peace with it, saving zidane. It is kind of heart warming that for a short while zidane gets his 'brother' so to speak.

As for him as an antaginist - I have always loved mages in fantasy stories. Which probably has it's root in kuja tbh. He really draws you in and the game does a great job showing how powerful he is. Not only through his magic abilities, but also his ability to manipulate basically every nation in Gaia to wage war on each other and do his work for him. The vanity he has adds to his oppressive personality when he is on screen, that combined with his theme music is just

Yeah, I thought a lot of the trance forms were strange. I never understood why they made them change colors. Some of the characters look sickly.

I know! Isn't it great? I think most of us thought that he was just going to be crazy up until the end, but he actually proves to be quite human!
