Igor Gnidii Singer

Igor Gnidii was born in Moldavia to Ukrainian parents. He trained at the State Conservatory in Odessa and then at the Reine Sofia School of Music in Madrid where he worked with Tom Krause and Manuel Cid. He entered the Paris Opera’s opera studio the Atelier Lyrique and then attended the European Academy of Music in Aix-en-Provence.
He made his professional debut in Odessa performing the roles of Enrico Ashton (Lucia di Lammermoor), Germont (La Traviata), Schaunard (La Bohème), Alfio (Cavalleria rusticana), and Eugene Onegin. He has earned numerous distinctions in Spain and he appears regularly in recital, primarily with Spain’s RTE Radio and Television Orchestra. During his time with the Atelier Lyrique, he appeared in the world premiere production of Xavier Dayer’s Les Aveugles. He made his Paris Opera debut in La Traviata (Marquis d’Obigny). He has worked with numerous directors, including Robert Carsen, Gilbert Deflo, Francesca Zambello, Giancarlo Del Monaco, and Christoph Marthaler. He has also sung under the direction of Alain Altinoglu, Sylvain Cambreling, Jeffrey Tate, Marc Albrecht, Daniel Oren, and Pinchas Steinberg. His repertoire extends to countless contemporary works including Stravinsky’s Les Noces , Busoni’s Turandot, Wozzeck, and Billy Budd... He has performed in Le Nozze di Figaro (Count Almaviva) at the Graz Opera, The Love for Three oranges (Pantalone), Khovanshchina, La Bohème (Schaunard), Rusalka (the Gamekeeper), La Traviata (the Marquis d’Obigny) at the Paris Opera, La Fanciulla del West at the Monte Carlo Opera (Sid) and the Paris Opera (Bello), Iolanta (Robert) and Rachmaninov’s Francesca da Rimini (the Shade of Virgil) at the Nancy Opera, Falstaff (Ford) at the Gulbenkian Foundation Auditorium in Lisbon, Turandot (Ping) in Rome, Faust (Valentin) in Leipzig, A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Demetrius) in Metz, La Traviata (Giorgio Germont) in Toulon, I Capuleti e i Montecchi (Capellio) and Werther (Johann) in Bergen, Pagliacci (Tonio) in Lisbon, Rigoletto (Marullo) aux Chorégies d’Orange.
