PTI supporters want Imran Khan to wear Sherwani, Jinnah cap on oath-taking

Incoming prime minister Imran Khan is expected to take oath along 11 cabinet members.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 7th August, 2018) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan, who has secured a simple majority in the polls required to form his government, is set to take the oath of prime minister.

The PTI chairman is often resembled to the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. In view of this, several PTI supporters have demanded him to wear Sherwani and Jinnah cap for his oath-taking ceremony.

Earlier, Imran Khan had expressed the wish to take oath at a public place and Islamabad’s D-Chowk was being considered as a venue to hold the oath-taking ceremony but it could not get approval due to security concerns. Imran Khan has also refused to live in the PM House to cut expenses.

Incoming prime minister Imran Khan is expected to take oath along 11 cabinet members.

This 11-member cabinet will take oath with the name of ‘Pakistan 11’. The cabinet is likely to have Asad Umar, Khusro Bakhtar, Shireen Mazari, Chaudhry Sarwar, Dr Arif Alvi, Sheikh Rasheed, Fawad Chaudhry, Tariq Bashir Cheema, Pervaiz Khattak and Ghulam Sarwar Khan.

The final date for oath-taking has not been decided yet.

The PTI emerged as the single largest party in the National Assembly with 116 general seats while with the addition of the general and reserved seats of its allies the party claimed to have secured at least 173 seats, whereas Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan Peoples Party won 64 and 43 general seats of the lower house, respectively.
