Having spent much of her youth studying piano, from seven to the age of seventeen, Brooke was an accomplished musician, displaying songwriting talent at the age of 12. In 2000, a performance at Parachute Festival, a Christian music festival, displayed Fraser’s talents and inspired her to seriously pursue a career in music. She then relocated to Auckland, New Zealand, having signed a multi-album deal with Sony Records.
In 2003, “What To Do With Daylight” was released, with her debut topping the New Zealand pop charts, being certified Platinum seven times. Five singles off the album also charted in the top 20 of the New Zealand Singles Chart, with success also translating over to Australia. Following this success, she embarked on an Australian and New Zealand tour in support of John Mayer, helping raise her exposure to new heights.
Fraser travelled to Los Angeles, US, to record her second album, “Albertine,” which also reached the number one spot upon its release in December 2006. In 2010, she returned with “Flags,” which earned Fraser her first number one single with the track, “Something in the Water.” The album received critical acclaim and Fraser’s talent recognised at the 2011 New Zealand Music Awards. Picking up awards for ‘Album of the Year,’ ‘Best Pop Album,’ ‘Single of the Year,’ ‘Best Female Artist’ and the ‘People’s Choice Award,’ 2011 was certainly a successful year.
For her fourth album, “Brutal Romantic,” she recorded at the legendary Abbey Road studios, with producer David Kosten, which saw a release date of November 2014. The album displayed a more experimental sound, incorporating orchestral elements, taking her music to new, expansive levels.
