What’s the story?
On an edition of his podcast Something To Wrestle With Bruce Prichard, WWE veteran Bruce Prichard opened up on a myriad of topics.
Prichard recalled how Goldust literally wanted to get breast implants so as to revive his career. Besides, Prichard also addressed the infamous Goldberg/Goldust wig segment that transpired back in 2003.
In case you didn’t know…
Dustin Runnels debuted his Goldust character in the WWE back in August of 1995—with the gimmick receiving considerable attention owing to the highly suggestive nature of Goldust’s on-screen mannerisms and actions.
The WWE, WCW and other professional wrestling promotions began putting forth edgier, more risqué content from the mid-1990s onwards, and Goldust is widely recognized as one of the key characters representing this transition in the business that started producing more content catering to mature audiences.
The heart of the matter
Bruce Prichard served in the WWE as a manager and producer back in the day and was one of the most well-connected people backstage in the company. ‘Brother Love’ stated the following on Goldust wanting to get breast implants—
"I think we were in Madison Square Garden and there had been some guy that had gotten breast implants and there was a lot to do about it. Everything was fizzling…There was no real direction with Goldust at the time. In my head, it happened at Madison Square Garden where Dustin had worked himself up for this pitch."
Additionally, Prichard explained that Goldust pitched the idea to everybody backstage, right from Vince Russo to Jim Ross, however, refrained from pitching it to Vince McMahon. Nevertheless, as McMahon knew about Goldust’s intentions of pitching the idea, he was the one who convinced the latter that getting breast implants wasn’t a great idea.
Furthermore, Prichard revealed that Goldberg was legitimately unhappy about the 2003 segment with Goldust wherein the latter made Goldberg wear a wig. Prichard continued that Goldberg hated the entire idea as well as then-WWE writer Brian Gewirtz’s suggestion to go forward with the idea, as the WCW icon felt that the segment would kill off his character—
Nevertheless, Prichard asserted that the primary reason they made Goldberg go through with the segment is because they felt it would make his character more entertaining.

Bruce Prichard recently returned to the WWE at RAW 25 for a one-off appearance.
On the other hand, Goldberg retired from the sport of pro-wrestling last year, whereas Goldust is still very much an active member of the WWE roster.

Well, Goldust aka Dustin Runnels truly is passionate about the professional wrestling business.
Honestly speaking, not many people would go as far as he was willing to go—especially given that he was ready to alter his body simply to revive his character. Goldust is without a doubt one of the unique people to have ever graced the squared circle.
