Exactly, which is all the more reason to hate Brooke Fraser, who, fresh from her last sold-out Vancouver appearance at the Media Club in June, headlines Richard’s on Richards on Monday (September 15). At the age of 24—a time when most of us are asking “Would you like that latte with soy or skim?”—the New Zealand–based singer-songwriter has gone seven-times platinum at home. Adding further insult to injury, she looks like a contestant on America’s Next Top Model (and no, not Isis), and spends her spare time doing charity work in Rwanda and hanging out in Tanzania with kids she’s sponsored. It’s almost enough to make you feel bad that, even though she’s a proud Christian, Fraser’s MySpace page keeps featuring a giant banner ad at the top for Bad Religion’s current tour, complete with crossed-out crucifixes.
