Rosanna Davison admits there’s a major chance her famous father Chris de Burgh might be brought on to Dancing With The Stars to sing Lady In Red alongside one of her TV appearances.

“Stranger things have happened,” smiled the former Miss World when asked about such a scenario or her dancing to another of his hits.

“I think it’s inevitable at some point in this competition if I’m still in it, where someone thinks it’s a great idea to put me in a red dress and have me dance to Lady In Red.

“Although I had a conversation with my pro dance partner yesterday and he said ‘wouldn’t Spaceman be a cool song to dance to, wouldn’t it be a really cool set’, a real out of this world sort of space type set kind of set.

“So, we’ll see. I’m not sure what this creative team has planned, what surprises they will spring on me, but I’m definitely anticipating it.”

She expects her husband Wes to bring their three kids to dress rehearsals on Saturdays but is unsure if her father can make it to the live shows on Sundays.

“I don’t know if he will come each week because he has his own busy schedule,” she explains.

“He was only telling us the other day he is celebrating 50 years in the music industry this year, so he has got a whole series of tours and concerts and some musicals running at the moment in Germany, so he has got his own stuff going on, which is great. He is 75 now and there’s no stopping him.”

Former model turned health businesswoman Rosanna also rebuffs any suggestion Wes might be jealous of her being up close and personal with pro dance partner Stephen Vincent, or the possibly of a ‘Strictly’ type romance curse.

“We are married 10 years this year. I think we have been together 17 or 18 years, we are kind of beyond that stage now, because Stephen is married as well. I don’t know if it’s even crossed anyone’s minds,” she stresses.

“Wes is really supportive. He is looking forward to watching the show. He is one of those people with New Year’s resolutions to get fit. So he has been trying to get back to the gym

“It is hard with small children to prioritise yourself, so I always think he always looks great. But he was giving out recently about having a dad bod, he is getting back to the gym. So hopefully my kind of lifestyle at the moment will inspire him, my early nights and active lifestyle will inspire him as well.”

Rosanna is also looking forward to glamming up for the show, and putting on lots of fake tan.

“It comes with the territory, lots of fake tan,” she confirms. ““I think the lights are so bright. The costumes are skimpy in places, that a little bit of tan helps boosts confidence, so that’s part of it

“I think it’s just part of the whole glitz and glamour of the show as well.”

She adds she is managing to bring her children to school early every morning and collect them at 2.30pm, having been up usually around 5am after getting to sleep the night before at 9pm.

Her eldest Sophia is aged four, while twins Hugo and Oscar are aged three.

“It felt like the right time for me to step away,” she points out as to why she joined the show.

“They’re a little bit older, a little bit more independent. They love going to school and they love the extra activities after school. They stay for lunch and do different things. It feels like the timing is right, and it’s the perfect antidote to being home and changing nappies. Stuffing little arms and jackets every day and that kind of thing

“I feel really positive I’m doing the right thing at the right time and I couldn’t be happier that I made the decision to join the show, it’s been great fun so far.”

She raves that Sophia in particular loves seeing her mum’s new challenge.

“She was in heaven looking at the RTÉ promo, at the pink sparkly dress,” she beams. “She was ‘do you’re think you’re pink now for the show’, so I’m wearing pink for her, a pink jumper and that kind of thing. Everything is very girly, everything is pink and sparkly. So hopefully at some point I will be able to bring them along to one of the dress rehearsals, they could watch that on a Saturday.

Obviously they wouldn’t be able to go and watch the show itself, but they are really excited, Sophia in particular

“Obviously they will be able to go to school and talk to their friends and their teachers and really enjoy it. They are at a lovely age, Sophia especially at a lovely age where she can really soak it all up and enjoy it as well and be part of the process.”

She explains that she entered to shows to ‘find herself again’.

“One of the many reasons I decided to do the show was to remember who I used to be,” she notes.

“Obviously not to say I used to be a dancer, I’m not a dancer in any complicity yet, fingers crossed, but it just to remember the person I used to be independent of being a mum and I think this applies to every mum, perhaps every parent out there, that you lose yourself when you have a child or more than one child, where your thoughts, your decision making, your behaviour changes completely, so it’s all about.

“You kind of forget about yourself. I reached a point last year where I just thought ‘I don’t even know what food I like, what restaurants I like to go anymore’. I had lost all sense of who I was, and it’s been a long process regaining that back again

“I suppose that process started more so when my twins started school at the end of August, and I had that little bit more time to meet with friends or to go to the gym. All that stuff. I hadn’t even been to a Pilates class or a gym or anything in so long, because I was just at home with the kids so much, that I couldn’t find the extra time

“So just being able to regain a sense of who I used to be. I want to do it for all mums and dads out there, that it’s hard. The first few years are difficult, they are really intense, you’re in this baby bubble, but then you slowly come out of it. You slowly find that balance again, of who you used to be and who you’re now as a parent.”

Dancing With The Stars is on RTE One tonight at 6.30pm.
