Ben Platt does not seem excited by the idea of being in the “nepo baby” category.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine as part of Platt's promotion for his latest project, Theater Camp, a reporter asked the actor about being featured in New York Magazine's Nepo Baby issue — which covered Hollywood's elite and their industry relatives.
“I’m curious, what was your response to that? And what do you make of that whole discourse?” the reporter asked Platt.
“We’re going to skip right over that if we can,” Platt responded. According to the Rolling Stone reporter, Platt's publicist then added, “If we could just focus on Theater Camp, that would be great. Thank you.”
Platt's father is Marc Platt, a highly successful producer and actor whose credits can be found in films such as Legally Blonde, The Little Mermaid, La La Land, Cruella, Into the Woods, and more. He also produced the film adaptation of the Broadway musical, Dear Evan Hansen, which starred Ben Platt.
The Rolling Stone reporter said that after asking Platt about his take on being part of the nepo baby conversation, the interview was cut short, noting that his “publicist intervenes again to say we only have one more question — at the halfway mark of what was supposed to be a 45-minute interview.”
