Abel tasman great walk, day 2: 3h50, 9.5 km.

We got lucky our bunk room didn't have snorers. But the next door one had some exceptionally loud ones . We could them through the walls... The game will be to avoid bunking beds with them in the consecutive nights.

It was a decent night nonetheless and we woke up at the break of dawn just like everyone else trying to catch the low tide crossing.

My ankle was still sore and somewhat swollen but it was manageable. I warmed it up and we started.

15min into the walk we come in view of this vast bay that is now completely out of water except for some stray streams. It's funny to walk barefoot , every step sends dozens of tiny crabs into hiding.

We cross getting our feet dirty and on the other side is torrent bay village dotted with small cottages. The view of the beach is nice . We stop for while to look at the other groups crossing.

The section of the hike to Bark Bay hut isn't particularly picturesque. It's mostly in the forest eith no views.

But as we arrived into Bark Bay, it's beautiful. There is the inlet back of the beach where the water is barely waist deep. The colour is just this array of turquoise, it's magical. The hut is a little further away from the seafront, so it's much more quieter than the one from Anchorage. I like it better.

The ankle fared overall well. I did take 50min more do this section because I was careful. Tonight i have recovered 80% flexibility and it's hardly as swollen. I think tomorrow will be almost back to normal.

We have enjoyed the beach today, the wind was not too cold and the sun just right. The water temperature was acceptable. It's just so beautiful.

Tonight I discussed with a group of hikers who must have some Indian origin but live in the US, New Zealand and Australia. They are brothers and it's their family reunion. I asked them about the dehydrated meals they ate last night, it smelled absolutely awesome. Here they gifted us two sachets, they buy it from indian and get it shipped, they said it taste right like there. And that if i like it, i can order to the company at the back of the packet, and that they shipped worldwide. That's what the brother in Australia is doing. I can't wait to try them !

Today is our 10 years civil union anniversary. I think it's a pretty idyllic place to celebrate.
