PATSY Kensit has opened up about dating after we exclusively revealed she has called off her fifth wedding.

The EastEnders actress, 55, will no longer tie the knot with millionaire property tycoon fiancé Patric Cassidy, 56, despite a source close to the pair insisting they still have a “lot of love for each other”.

And Patsy's busy schedule, including filming the BBC's whodunnit drama Death in Paradise, means the likelihood of her dating someone new anytime soon is very slim.

Patsy told the Mirror how she wakes up at 4am for early starts on set and has said no to so many social gatherings with co-stars that she's no longer asked.

She said: “At my age I don’t meet people as I’m normally in bed at 9pm.

"The thought of going to a bar or looking for love… but these things happen when you least expect it. I got set up on a blind date so there you go. I use the word companionship.

“I’m not ruling the intimacy side of things out but relationship."

Self-confessed “hopeless romantic” Patsy announced ten months ago she and Patric were getting married after he popped the question within weeks of them starting dating.

However, last month we reported how she was left “visibly distressed” at a charity do when Patric snatched her diamond ring from her hand during a furious row.

A spokesman for Patsy told The Sun on Sunday: “I can confirm they have split, and would appreciate that she is given her privacy regarding the matter. She is currently very busy working.”

An insider added: “The whirlwind romance has come to a halt and the couple have decided to go their separate ways.

“They have a lot of love for one another, but ultimately, she knew that they couldn’t make it work in the long-term so felt it was best not to move forward with their relationship.

“Patsy has lots of exciting work opportunities at the moment, and she is throwing herself into her career.”

Last September, Patric proposed to Patsy at Scott’s fish restaurant in London’s Mayfair — and bought fellow diners champagne when she accepted.

In February the actress shared photos on her Instagram page of the tycoon getting down on one knee at a beach destination, apparently making the engagement “official”. She also showed off her sparkler.

But last month onlookers told how Patric had a furious bust-up with Patsy during a charity event at Nuthurst Grange Country House Hotel in Solihull, West Midlands.

A fellow guest revealed: “He snatched her engagement ring from her finger, as well as her watch and handbag.

“Patric threw her handbag back at her chest. He then stormed off.

"She looked visibly upset and distressed.

“Patsy didn’t seem to know what she had done wrong.”

It comes after Patric was branded a “love rat” last year by a former partner who claims he was seeing her right up until his proposal to Patsy.

He was also filmed waving a steering wheel lock at a plain-clothed engineer sent to test the burglar alarm at his mansion block in Mayfair, West London, in May.

Patric was seen shouting: “I’ll kill you” at the worker, who said he was “terrified”.

Patsy told how she felt “very blessed” earlier this year after falling in love again and landing a dream role in Albert Square as Emma Harding, estranged mother to Lola Pearce.

She said: “I’m feeling good. I’m trying to be the best I can be for the age that I am and the best possible version of myself.

“I am a hopeless romantic and I do believe in love. I’m very excited about the future on many levels. I’m happy and feel very blessed.

“I’ve been very busy. My feet haven’t really touched the ground, but I’m very grateful. I’ve learned from every situation, good and bad, and I’ve come away with a lesson. I don’t regret anything.”

Four-times-wed Patsy, a former model and lead singer with pop band Eighth Wonder in the 1980s, previously joked she had tied the knot with everyone she dated.

But the mum of two claimed that she only counts the fathers of her children as her “significant” marriages, which would mean Simple Minds singer Jim Kerr and former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher.

She said: “Well, I married all my boyfriends, so that was something I’ve learned I needn’t do.

“I can’t change the rules of the law but I was with Jim, and Lennon’s dad (Liam) for years, so I kind of count them as my two marriages.

"I know that’s not allowed, I know there was a ceremony. But I feel that those were the really significant relationships, very deep and wonderful in so many ways.”
