The 165ft-tall elaborate centrepiece of U2’s 360° tour that was nicknamed “the Claw” has found a new home as an entrance to a US aquarium.

The looming €20 million structure, which toured the world for two years with the band between 2009 and 2011 and was one of the largest concert sets in history, has been purchased by the owners of Loveland Living Planet Aquarium in Draper, near Salt Lake City.

The Claw will be the centrepiece of an expansion of the aquarium, which opened in 2014 and houses 625 different species of marine life. Brent Andersen, founder of the aquarium, said that the structure was purchased to stimulate visitors’ imaginations as they enter the building.
