The boat ramp can be very busy in the summer months and kitefishing is not recommended during the day in summer for this reason.

Fishing in the evenings and night is much better here.

This beach is not suitable for Bottom Longline Rigs.

Fishing close to the reefs can be done by experienced fishers using Dropper Rigs and ledger rigs. This type of fishing results in more fish and bigger fish being caught during winter.

There is intermittent flat papa rock on Takapuna beach.
