Devonport is a charming seaside suburb located on the northern shores of Auckland city.
Steeped in history, Devonport is home to many incredibly beautiful Victorian villas built in the early 1900s.

This beautiful historic village is one of the oldest in Auckland and the first on the North Shore. Just a 12-minute ferry ride from downtown Auckland, the suburb is known for its waterfront dining, café culture, panoramic views of both the sea and city, and stunning beaches.

One of the most popular stops is the Navy museum, which offers an incredible collection of navy memorabilia. In fact, Devonport is home to the Royal New Zealand Navy.

Enjoy incredible views of Auckland city and the gulf from North Head hill, and discover a network of military tunnels beneath it. The historic reserve displays old canons, guns, bunkers and searchlights.

Explore Mt. Victoria, one of Devonport’s most famous landmarks and enjoy amazing views of Rangitoto Island. It is also home to a number of concrete bunkers, one of which has become a music venue.

Take a stroll or grab something to eat and drink in one of the many restaurants and cafes along the suburb’s main street, Victoria Street. Some of the highly rated eating spots include Manuka Restaurant, Dida’s Devonport Wine Lounge and Tapas, The Patriot and Portofino Bar and Restaurant all located on Victoria Street.
Devonport Stone Oven Bakery and Café is a great place to take kids as well as the Whites Dairy on Vauxhall Road, which serves some of the largest ice creams in the country.

Explore Cheltenham Beach located 1.5 kilometres from the ferry terminal popular with both locals and visitors for safe swimming, family picnics and casual walks. You can choose to grab a bite at the McHugh’s Lounge set on the foreshore of the beach, where you can enjoy a buffet lunch. Not too far from Cheltenham, you can easily access the North Head Historic Reserve and shops on Vauxhall Road. It is also just a short distance to Torpedo Bay Navy Museum.

Shopping in the village is easy, as most of the stores are located on Victoria Street, Devonport’s shopping district. Most shops are owned by the locals and offer a wide range of products from designer clothing to locally made chocolates. Therefore, whether you are looking to buy a souvenir, a gift for a friend or loved one or custom-made jewellery for your significant other, you will definitely find something that you will love.
