You'll find the cliffs just outside the picturesque town of Omarama, nestled amidst the breathtaking landscapes of New Zealand's South Island.
They are located on private land and to get there, head north of Omarama and turn onto Quailburn Road off State Highway 8 (SH8) and then turn onto the unsealed Henburn Road. There's a donation box at the gate where you can pay the $5 vehicle admission fee. Ensure you have the correct money as there is no change given.
It is a 1.3 kilometre return walk (about 7 minutes each way) to get to the Omarama Clay Cliffs from the car park.
As you approach the Clay Cliffs, you're immediately greeted by towering pinnacles and ravines, seemingly sculpted by the hands of time.
