Shakira has unveiled her new song, titled 'El Jefe', after collaborating with Fuerza Regida, a US group specialising in regional Mexican music that excels in the norteno genre.

The new song has been shared on social media, with one line in particular generating many interpretations and theories among fans.

"They say there's no evil that lasts more than a hundred years, but there's still my ex-father-in-law who hasn't been buried...", Shakira sings in 'El Jefe'.

That line has, unsurprisingly, sparked a huge debate online.

In 'El Jefe', Shakira, who begins the song with her legendary "Shakira, Shakira", refers to labour inequality by telling the story of an employee and her difference in salary compared to her boss.

The 46-year-old Colombian singer's new single is accompanied by a spectacular video that has surpassed 1.2 million views on YouTube in the first two hours after its release.

In the video, she even rides a horse and wears different Texas-style looks, including stiletto-heeled cowboy boots that reach the knees and a cowboy hat to match her dress.

Fuerza Regida is a group specialising in regional Mexican music. It is made up of Jesus Ortiz Paz (singer), Samuel Jaimes (guitarist and backing vocalist), Khrystian Ramos (guitarist), Jose 'Pelon' Garcia (saxophonist) and Moises Lopez (double bass).

They began their career in Sinaloa, Mexico, and later tried their luck in the United States.
