Many people living in the South woke to heavy frosts yesterday, including those on the Taieri Plain, the Waitaki Valley, and Invercargill.

Queenstown plummeted to -3.2degC, Wanaka was slightly warmer at 1.4degC, Invercargill went down to -3degC, Oamaru was just above freezing at 0.6degC, but Omakau recorded -5.2degC and Lumsden had a low of -4degC.
