This week is Lions Awareness Week and as you might expect Raglan Lions has plenty of event underway for October 03-09, 2011.

    • Drop in at the Community House for a cuppa
    • Visit the Lions Opportunity Shop for this week’s specials of the Day
    • Drop in at the Bargain-basement at the community house and meet Waikato’s Volunteer of the Year
    • Make a Donation

 Tuesday October 4th

  • What; Lions Health Awareness Day:
  • Where; Raglan Community House
  • What do they do; Lions of Raglan support the Raglan Community Vehicle Trust
  • Why; Come down and meet the drivers at the Community House look over the van if not transporting residents to Hamilton
  • When; All Day
  • In What way; Donations towards the running costs of the Van.

 Wednesday October 5th

  • What; Lion Supporting Youth
  •  Where; Raglan Community House
  • What do they do; Lions of Raglan support Raglan Youth and SURFSIDE activities
  • Why; Fundraising activities Christmas in the Park,

 Thursday October 6th

  • What for; Drop off any and all sorts of reading glasses for recycling and refurbishing activities

The popular children’s School Holiday programme run by Chris Mitchell and Yann Bordier is running again later in October at the Raglan Old School Arts Centre in Stewart Street.  It will run for the week of Monday 17 October to Friday 21st October from 9.00am to 3.00pm.

The daily activities include:

Monday 17 October

  • Seascape painting with tutor
  • Patricia Turner Part 1 – learn how to draw and use colour while looking at a seascape

Tuesday 18 October

  • Heart filled clay jewellery
  • Make clay hearts –
  • decorating with jewellery

Wednesday 19 October

  • Seed Growing – Get ready for Summer!

Thursday 20 October

  • Art work framing – part II
  • Make a frame using beach combing materials

Friday 21 October

  • Surprise baking!

The costs are $17 for a half day, $29 a day or $140 for the week and subsidies may be available, so please ask at the Arts Centre.
