The Oribi gorge is named after the tiny Oribi antelope (Ourebia ourebi) that only reaches a shoulder height of 50 to 66 cm and hence is easily overseen in the grass. We were lucky to spot a small group of three antelopes, that was lazing in the grass, during a trip around the Oribi gorge with Mike when we stayed at The Gorge Private Game Lodge and Spa.
You can see how tiny it is by looking at the second photo. Note that the grass nearly grows up to their shoulders! We enjoyed the encounter with these graceful and cute antelopes very much.
