1976 Holden Gemini - today's tempter
Seventies coupe
It seems that once upon a time the roads were littered with early Holden Geminis, but now they’re pretty thin on the ground. And when was the last time you saw a coupe?
Our buyers guide notes: "By 1975 and with Japanese brands taking huge chunks out of the local car market, there were no prizes for predicting that GM-H would source its next compact model from Japan. Well, Europe via Japan actually.
"Isuzu borrowed its basic design for the Gemini from GM’s Opel Kadett. However we would avoid that car’s undernourished 1.2-litre engine and go straight to the optional 1.6 litre."
These things were fun to drive, particularly in manual form.
This example is a 1600 auto which the owner says is rust-free. Located in Wandong (Vic), it’s on the market for $13,000.
